    Hi everyone,
I am planning to remove the Tacoma badge on the doors.

Has anyone removed them and later decided they want them back on the truck?
How would I go about re-applying them?
I really like the clean look without the badge, but things change.
Many other's the same way on here?

When I looked online for new badges, I saw just the overlays.

You'll want to get automotive double sided tape to reinstall.

Photo and measure before removal if you expect to reapply in same location

3m double sided tape and a razor blade. A little rubbing alcohol. Take measurements and pics before removing. Or make a template out of paper so you know where to put them if you decide.

Yep, I took mine off to paint them, then reapplied a day later. Take a couple of pictures from close up, and a few feet back for perspective. Then grab some measurements so you know the proper “OEM” placement.

You’ll have to clean up the leftover tape on the truck and on the badge. If you choose to put them back on, you just need some 3M double sided tape. Any auto store will carry it.

Have fun, post pics of finished product!

Edit: dammit you guys are fast.

I'm surprised many people leave them on.
I guess I go back to younger days of car mods.

Can anyone talk me out of it, or tell me otherwise??

It isn't broken. Don't fix it.

    Leave well enough alone.

The best part is, there’s no right answer when it comes to personal preference. Some people like them blacked out, some colour matched. Some like them as they come, others want that clean debadged look you’re after.

Super easy to change if you decide you want it another way.

    True!

I think I will proceed to remove the badges. I will measure and take some photos before the removal if i want to reapply at a later date.

    Thanks everyone!!

Yes you can re-apply. Never crossed my mind though, IMO it looks better without them.
Also, there are templates on the web, it provides measurements of the exact placement of all badges and decals if you want to re-apply. (see attached)

    This sold me.

I'm leaving the sport sticker, but removing the Tacoma badge :)

I did the exact opposite: removed the sport sticker (it easily peeled off), but left the Tacoma badges and covered them with black overlays. I'm debating whether to add the black "4x4" badge on the tailgate. I already put Hector's "TRD" badge on the grille.

if you take a pic of your truck its pretty easy to photoshop an area of the truck thats the same color and put it right over the badging so you can see how it looks without. I just do it on my phone using the background eraser and photo layers apps. That's what I did to be sure that I wanted to take them off.

If it's cold, be sure to heat up the metal with a heat gun... I will even heat up the tape just slightly. It definitely helps get those things on their tight.

Why? I think most owners are surprised by the people who go through the anguish of deciding and effort of taking them off.
