because IFS cv axles are inherently weaker than solid axles. Also keep in mind a locked front while turning on ground that has too much traction can equal an exploded diff.

Instead of window dressing how about a special edition with let's say heated mirrors rear disc brakes here's one, the newer 4.0 with a side order of six speed auto. Ya listening Toyota ??????

I wouldn't mind the heated mirrors and the new 4.0 but not a big fan of the rear disc brakes...

Asked above but can someone explain the added suspension travel in more depth? For a "baja" edition I would expect different UCAs LCAs coilovers... something. but it doesn't sound like they are adding any of that.

If the front is lifted 2" from the factory I'm assuming the truck is level. I was a critic at first but I don't think this truck is necessarily marketed for the people on this site. It will be a great truck for the average guy who does not mod vehicles and wants a capable stock configuration.

"Baja" is just a played out marketing gimmick to get the less informed truck enthusiasts to buy a package and feel they have bought a competitive vehicle in the trucks respective class. For "baja" edition one SHOULD expect stock or optional long travel.

You are correct that this truck is not meant to be marketed to the typical enthusiast you may run into on this site. IMHO this truck is another example proving that you can just build up a base model to be the full package, and have the price be less or the same when your done. Minus DHA/UPA, and lunar orbiting capabilities.

Looks like different shocks is how they gained more travel. Not sure where the ride height came from but it's all speculation right now.

King 2.5" extended travel coilovers with compression adjusters, Camburg UCA's, King 2.5" rear shocks, TRD 1st gen CAI.

Yeah, I don't see how they are getting that extra travel. No shock/spring setup I know gives an extra inch of travel without UCA's. The front end would have to be completely different, wouldnt it?

doesn't look all that cool. I'd much rather get a normal tacoma and do an LT kit....

Has nothing to do with the "baja" edition but does the updated front bumper not bother anybody but me??? I can't get over it every time i see a new picture. It doesn't line up with the fender flare and for whatever reason it looks half-ass to me.

I would drive the shiet out of that... although I do agree with what most people have said. The graphics on the side are gross. Did they play dirt3 while designing that?

"The front suspension has been upgraded to include Ø60mm piston Bilstein race shocks with TRD coil springs that feature a protective zinc plated body and a one inch increase in wheel travel"

So they either have new trd springs designed specifically for this truck or the coil seat on the shock is ~1" taller to gain ride height than previous versions.

I probably shouldn't say this without knowing it for sure but I doubt that its 5100s or spacers
