There's been alot of anticipation for the guineas to their installs.

Maybe it's a case of failing under pressure :D:

I think what I may wind up doing is using a small 1.2 amp-hr 12 V battery and connecting to that with the battery mounted in the bed side cubby hole. The lights draw so little current that it'll last a long time w/o having to fuse into the main battery. Like this battery for $10 is 3.8"x1.7"x2.3":

Please add me to you list for a long bed kit though. Your light kit is a great idea.

Have you seen this done with any other color? Thinking amber or blue.

The battery idea in one of the bedside boxes IS a good idea.

Thats a great idea. How many hours do you think you could get out of one battery?

Depends on the load required to run the lights. OP do you know the specs?

I think to run a strip of about 20 ft you need between 20 to 25 W. So at 12V, we are talking about 2 amps. My initial estimate on battery size was a little low, so going with a 3+ amp-hr 12V battery maybe best. That still is a small (5"x2.5"x2.5") cheap (< $15) lead acid battery which will give you 1-2 hrs of continuous lighting if running at their brightest. A dimming switch to reduce current use maybe helpful. It would probably go a year (based on how much I would use the bed lights) before I would have to use one of those cheap harbor freight rechargers to recharge it.

To run a battery setup no. But for 16 ft of LEDs will consume about 48-60w.

I honestly don't think the Leds use that much juice. I ran a lot of the strips to make sure they work off a 9v battery for over 20 min at a time.
