Has anyone experienced this? This is new Toyota OEM Bed Mat that has been in my truck for less that 3 months. I bought this from a well known Pennsylvania retailer on eBay. All was well then all of a sudden it looks like one half of it fades and the other does not. Could I perhaps have received a defective one? Has anyone else had any experience such as this?

It's a bedmat, made to protect the bed and keep things from sliding around, not look pretty.

Is it subjected to partial shade? Looks like someone only cleaned half of it.

Try using 303 protectant on it to see if it clears up the faded part.

Are you putting any type of protectant on it? Put some 303 on it whenever you wash it. Keeps it looking fresh and new.

I purchased one from the same seller on ebay and so far so good. Looks like yours was half way in the sun.

Strange how the fading begins right at the "Tacoma" stamp.

Mine is only a few months old as well, and faded, discolored, scratched, etc...

I try not to be too OCD about it - it's a rubber bed mat after all. Not a diamond ring.

Called the dealer where I purchased it. Although it is ONLY a bedmat and NOT made to look pretty, it is obviously defective and they will be forwarding the pics to Toyota. They also stated that they will resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Did you have the bedmat when you took delivery and if so, did the truck go back to the dealership with the mat installed for any "special paint treatment" applications? It almost looks like someone treated only half the mat either at the dealership or point of manufacture.

Are you going to treat the new one or leave it to the elements like I assume you did this one? You didn't say anything in the original post about doing any special cleaning of the original mat so if the new one starts to fade completely because it's untreated, how are you going to respond?

I don't treat my mat with anything special and it's outside everyday. I sort of expect it to fade and get cuts, nicks and abrasions over time. Mine is 2 months old and looks almost as bad as your faded section. The top is dirtier because it sits under a toolbox
    20160511_180203.jpg

Still does it's job of protecting the bed and keeping things from sliding around so I wouldn't consider it defective.

Thats so weird. Mine is all discolored from hauling wood, vehicle parts, mulch, garbage, grass, etc.

But it isn't so uniform like yours. Thats very weird, as long as its not brittle or falling apart, it should be just fine.

I beat the shit out of my bed mat. It's covered in wood shards, pine needles, dust, gasoline from a leaky jug and blood from hunting/fishing.

It'll eventually blend in. I wouldn't worry about it.

If I paid $80-$100 for a mat it should be the same color. I'd be perusing the same path as the OP.

I got the OEM bed mat about a month ago and I have a cap on my truck. It seems to continue to de-gas a nasty rubbery chemical smell, so much so that I am reluctant to put my dog in the back and sleeping back there seems out of the question, yet that's why I have the cap. Anyone know if it ever stops de-gassing?
