    Hi all,
So have an 06 Tacoma double cab sport longbed. Every now and then when I get on a road or highway, the passenger rear side of my bed starts shaking up and down. I can even see it doing it in the mirror bouncing up and down like an inch or so. Sometimes it will do it when I am braking (especially going downhill), it's really annoying and I wonder if any of you have had the same problem, or know of a fix. I just added a leaf spring last week and they told me I have a blown rear drivers side shock (The opposite side of what shakes). I also ordered some Bilstein 5100's which should be here today. I am hoping that new shocks may help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

Is the bed itself tightened down enough? There should be bolts holding it down that can come loose..

Also, is there a crack in the bed some where? I know that my bed did that but that was due to the bed being cracked close to the cab.

    Thanks for the response,
Are the bolts in the bed the only ones that tighten the bed to the frame?
I can lift up on the bed and it lifts the whole truck up, does'nt feel loose. (damn, that makes me sound like superman or some sh*t) lol

Tighten the bed bolts up. I would actually remove all 6 of them and put anti-seize on them before tightening. Remove them one at a time and torque them down.

Just an FYI they are the (6) silver bolts in the bed

Check that wheel on that side. If you had a bent rim or really outta balance tire it'll bounce around too. Get a friend to drive alongside you and look. See if its the bed only or is it your wheels. See if your rear bumper on that side is shaking too, if the bed is shaking but your rear bumper is sitting still then it could be the bed and the bolts.

I thought the heads were designed not to strip :notsure:

    Thanks for all the tips!
So if the rim was bent, would'nt it bounce all the time? I find it kinda weird that it only happens on a certain flat section of the interstate here in Albuquerque, or when going down a steep hill and hitting the brakes.

:anonymous: I have stripped one...No impact gun and no leverage will do that.

I did get it out with a Vice grip tightened down to the head, i stepped on top of the bolt/vice grip and gently kicked the handle with my other foot. Worked like a champ!

Lol Outta balance tire can get outta control at different speeds depending on how warped or bent it is. Since its on the rear of your truck you wont see or feel it until it bounces all over. You can try to put that wheel to the front and see if it shakes your steering, if you cant find a friend to drive alongside you. Shocks, tires and bolts. Check those. If all fails contact the city and tell them to fix the roads.

A blown driver's side shock can shake the passenger side of the vehicle.
    Its all connected.

Usually, when one side is shaking, the other will as well, difference being that you can see the passenger side much more easily than the driver side.
