    Answer is obvious ... put something like Total Chaos on to restore the bed to "true" and reinforce from future damage. Also if you look you might find the cracks starting at the corners of the bed where the stiffeners work.

    The problem is that these folks simply don't know what they are talking about.

    My breakdown, as a professional (who designs things like this almost daily), has yet to be debunked, or even extrapolated/improved upon, and has been on this site for years now.

    My recommendation; buy the TC stiffeners. You don't need extreme bulk, you need height. I have personal experience with a set of beefy, but short, stiffeners that still allowed the top of the bed to pull away. The bottom remained square, but the top still moved out of position.

    i think they're BS for only the people that aren't putting loads above the top of the factory bed side. as soon as a cap/racks/tents, or anything else is mounted/hung above the the bed side, they're a necessity.
