I’ve been rocking my brain to decide between the Bilstein 6112/5160 and Toytec Boss 2.5 front & 2.5 rear shocks.

Comparing the front coil overs, I liked the Bilstein 6112 because it has a lifetime warranty, and also I’ve heard it’s a pretty good shock. The front BOSS Toytec coil over has only 1 year warranty. Both are 2.5 inches in size.

Comparing the rear shocks, I like the Toytec over the 5160 because the Toytec is 2.5 inches in size while the 5160 is 2 inches. Plus the Toytech has 1 year warranty while the 5160 has only 90 days warranty. Even though the 5160 shock has reservoir and can be rebuilt, I’m hearing it tends to leak/fail easily. That’s probably why it has only 90 days warranty.

My question - can I mix and match the two? I.e Blistine 6112 at the front and Toytec BOSS Alum 2.5 at the rear. Both allow 1-3” lift.

    Thanks for the help.

I don't see why you couldn't mix and match. My neighbor has a 4runner with Aluma 2.0 front and 5100's in the rear b/c he was tearing up boots on the rear Toytecs. Any weight (or future plans) in the front (bumper/winch?) You may want to reverse that and go with Aluma up front and Bilstein in the rear. The Aluma spring is rated at 700# vs. 6112 600#. The biggest difference to me is the price point. I have the Aluma 2.0 front and rear and while it is a very good suspension, I think the Bilstein is just as good and for far less $$.

Can’t go wrong with either. But of course I would say 6112’s IMO

Can you put those toytec coils on the 6112s?

    Work in progress...
Sure you can run a different brand shock in the rear vs the front. I am not an expert or anything but I couldn't think of any reason not to get the shocks you want.
