To clear the flat bed story up, the crossing was nearly a month ago. Any time I do a water crossing the starter does a single click and a slow start for a few weeks then clears up. Yesterday it had finally cleared up and then as I went to go to work this morning and would not start. So I called a flat bed to the mechanics after reading that the starter replacement was a PIA(lazy).

It is the Verde for those who asked.

Can confirm starter is stupid annoying to get to.

Though now that I've done it I know how to make it easier on myself

Had the same problem going through starters with the first boat i had with an inboard engine. The starter was mounted on the engine too low in the bilge...even the bilge pump wasn't enough to prevent salt water from entering the starter.

With a 22R when I had starter problems I would pound it with a hammer a few times and it work. Not sure with the new motors...

If you get enough mud in your starter a hammer isn't enough to help heh heh

The positive cable loosened off on my 20R's starter back in the day, roll started it and went on my merry way! Come to think of it, I've never tried to roll start my 6spd Frontier.. I don't see why it wouldn't work!

Nah, it's not a Nissan frontier, those have the alternator laying real low. TOYOTA has it up higher where it's safer.

Why yes. It's called a manual transmission

Should a had a manual transmission. Redundancy is a good thing to have way out there to avoid the tow truck drivers who can rape you, use and abuse you at will

Yah, I feel for ya'. That's why I will probably never own the V-8 Tundra. It makes no sense to do major open heart surgery just to replace a lowly stater.

If only I was the only driver yes, but non in my circle can drive one. it's also burglar proof, so there's that...

My thoughts exactly... I don't worry about my starter when I can bump start heh heh
