Ok. So have you done anything to the suspension or drivetrain before?

That's relatively low mileage, but that doesn't mean your springs aren't shot. Mine were worn out around that time too. Still sporting my orig rear leafs, too, which is next on my list.

I would start with new front and rear shocks.

Tacomas do not have struts. It is a shock inside a coil: coilover.

The giveaway is the upper control arm. This is what maintains the front-end alignment. Removing a strut will alter the alignment.

A coilover is the full assembly. Individually they are a coil and a strut.

Nope. Coil over a shock absorber.

    Wrong again.

    Seriously, it's a shock.

Like I said, a "strut" is an integral piece of the suspension/steering, and requires an alignment if removed. You can remove the Tacoma coilover and the alignment is maintained.

2WD has a shock not a strut in the front. The shock absorber is not inside of the spring. You can replace the shock without taking the spring off.

There should be a shock absorber on each wheel. 4 total.

My truck did this when I first bought it and drove it home...felt like I nearly lost complete control hitting a bump in the road on the freeway. Come to find out, they had inflated the tires to 60psi...dropped it down to 35 and it rode WAY better. Check your tire pressure

If you figure it out let me know. I've had this bounce side to side on my 4x4 taco for a few years now. I've replace EVERY SINGLE front suspension and steering component and had multiple alignments and it never goes away.

    OP,
Replace your OEM coil overs with Fox or ICON. While you're at it, either replace the UCA bushings or splurge on an aftermarket pair that fits your budget.

    Good luck.

He doesn't need to buy $1400 coilovers to solve this problem. He just needs shocks that aren't worn out.

Correct but, while in there, doe it once and be done with it and, up-grade at the same time.
Doing things more than once gets expensive.

Sure, if you're considering upgrading your shocks, it makes sense to upgrade once, rather than get some slightly upgraded shocks then a year later get the Kings.

However, the OP wasn't considering upgrading, he wanted to know how to fix his problem.

You'd need to buy probably half a million miles worth of 5100's before you reach the cost of the Fox or Kings.

Not necessarily. Time is money too. You can find used CO's all day from those that go SAC/ SAS.
    Good product cures many ails.
