I give a low rating, probably because of the rear drums, why did Toyota use drum brakes?



Who makes a rear disk brake conversion?

 

There’s no problems with drum brakes

 

Are you driving 9/10ths? I thought Florida was flat and every road is straight.

I thought rear drums sucked on my Tacoma, but I had zero issues with them. They work, but they sure the fuck aren't sexy

Couldn't you just start a "what's the best oil to use" or "how big of tire can I fit on a stock truck" thread.

 

Just put on a set of Black Rhino. No one will see the drum.

 

Lol they work fine, they last years and are cheap to maintain. Several have done a big brake kit conversion and it's a labor of love and a lot of money. No turnkey kit that I am aware of.

 

They stop comparably to other mid size trucks and last longer. Your turn.

 

Have you tried them? In an emergency stop?

there's a conversion available but if you're really interested in braking performance rather than what some Chevy Colorado next to you thinks about your truck, then you would invest in a front upgrade, not a rear upgrade. getting a Wilwood kit up front is what helped my truck get quicker. and i can lock the rears any time. losing 34lbs of unsprung weight is worth gold, too, thanks Wilwood.

 

Buys a "sport" trim.

Only to complain about the drum brakes on his "sport".
