And if the Ridgeline offered a full size bed I would consider it. I like that the bed is lower to make it easier to load cargo. Cause I actually do that. Like every week.

Yes, access cab, 6' bed would be compelling, but that transverse engine is a deal breaker for me.

Also, the idea of getting a flat with the bed loaded with heavy material- the spare location is a potential nightmare.

But I do think Honda's are good vehicles.

And looks aren't a top priority for me, fwiw.

Seriously, when was the last time you or someone you know had a flat? On road not being an idiot off road.

When I started truck shopping, the Ridgeline was on the list. Until I saw starting msrp over 30k for FWD, that eliminated it. I doubt you can get an AWD one for less than 32k, so the $5000 I saved right there will offset the slightly poorer gas mileage for a long time.

Run a taco with 1500lbs in the bed and a ridgeline with the same and see which one breaks first. I'm serious hahaha let's do a head to head.

Well the places I drive have more loose nails and screws laying around than your average "off road". The TPMS saved me once already, but my last truck would go through tires often.

So yes, maybe never get a flat in a Ridgeline, but that spare tire location is just weird, imo.

You know I'm a numbers guy. I've read that concern several times about the Ridgeline spare and it's pretty much baseless if you look at it logically:

On one hand, you have the Ridgeline with the spare in the trunk. The odds of you having a flat are slim. What are the odds of you having a flat with a full load of something? Much much slimmer. This would be my luck but me and Mr. Murphy are besties apparently.

On the other hand, you have the Tacoma with the spare under the truck. Again, odds are slim on you having a flat. What are the odds of you having a flat in the rain or mud or snow? You know it's impossible to lower that spare and get it out from under the truck without some part of your body on the ground right?

So in worst case, you either gotta unload a small portion of your load or you gotta get dirty. Neither way is ideal. But, if you only have to do it once every several years then it's no big deal. I call it a tie.

I honestly seem to average a freaking flat about once every year and half or so, wish the subject hadn't come up cause I am about due again, lol. Last 4 flats were all drivers side rear and the last 1 was caused by a Skunk, his ribs poked 3 holes in between the tread.

Your world , your rules....my world, my rules.

There's a reason that most pickup trucks keep the spare there....real world.

Real truck owners don’t wine about flats nor they get their hands dirty.

Just like when their CPS dies, they pull over side of the road, and can call Honda/Toyota roadside with A/C on and windows up , while someone else changes their tire for them.

    Truth .... facts

Things people in Kennebunkport don’t have to deal with ;)

What’s your worst problem? Few French Canadians illegally bringing poutine or meat from Schwartz? ;) :D

My worst problem? Animals. I live in the middle of nowhere in the Southern Appalachians. Our county has the highest deer strike percentage in AMERICA. We have bears. My trash cans are in a cage. Coyotes, Foxes and get this... our state decided we need more Elk, so they introduced Elk back into our woods. Which is fine, but we have very dense vegetation right up to the road right? Driving home the other night in the fog, rounded a corner and *holy shit* what is that gigantic deer doing standing in the road? Of course it was an Elk, but the first one I had seen around here in the wild. Big. It seems like we live in a wildlife preserve lol. ARB bumper is in my future.
Is it pretty? No. Will it protect the truck? Yes. Even riding the mountain bike is more sketchy now. The deer love our trails. And turkey. Don't get me started about the turkey. They just approved Sunday hunting so maybe that will help thin the herd so to speak.
