I just parked next an older Tundra the other day, its still bigger than the 3rd gen, but not by much. I had to really look at, as a quick glance and you might think they are the same size.

I wonder what the Corporate heads in Japan think of this? The Tacoma is one of the most aggressive looking Toyota vehicles that has come out in a while. In fact, I think it's the most aggressive/manly looking vehicle they have put. Much more aggressive than the Tundra or Hilux. I know the Tacoma was mostly designed by Americans (a first for the Toyota mid-size), which makes sense.

Based on the New Rav4 and the new Corrolla, both of which look much more aggressive than their previous models, I think Japan is letting the American Toyota personnel have much more influence on corporate designs than before.

It's the interior that really show off how big the Tundy is. Big, big difference when you sit inside one. Really wide, tons of leg room in the front and back. Overall more comfortable vehicle.

Ya, I have been in a newer Tundra 4 or 5 years ago, good size. The new ones a giant inside.

we didn't even get that far into the conversation. I don't think I would have bought one even if it was 4x4, manual trans and a nice green.

The older Tundras were smaller, the new body style is officially a full size truck.

Me either, I think the only way I would pick one is if I was forced to choose between that and a stupid Ridgeline.

Yeah, this was my line of thinking too. Not sure why they get lumped, but gives them an advantage in the final count.

The ranger will outsell the ridgeline. That’s all I have for future facts.

No, I understand that. I know people work oil fields, construction, or whatever else that need 4x4 every day. I have 4x4 on my truck for the rare need for it, but the ridgeline comes in AWD, so complaining about that is really an issue with ground clearance than anything else.

You definitely don't come off harsh, I appreciate your perspective.

What I don't understand is why people go out of their way to bash on another truck that is targeting a different demographic. It doesn't make sense to me.

Does your truck make/model or whether or not it's a stickshift that important to your self image? I'm not criticizing here, I'm trying to understand / get it, and comprehend why you'd rag on a SUV pointlessly because it is "shitty looking." What does it accomplish? Do you feel better about your car payment after saying the Ridgeline looks silly? Did someone with a Ridgeline hurt you or emasculate you at some point? Don't take this post as an attack, again, I'm trying to understand.

I didn't pick my truck for an image or to look rugged. It's a tool for work that I can load up with equipment for IT deployments, then use on the weekends for fun with my family. I'd be comfortable driving in a Ridgeline if it suited all my needs for less cost. It's not an image, it's a means to an end. Do you not feel the same?

I really don't give any thought to the Ridgeline any more since I chose a Tacoma, other than when it's brought up pointlessly like this. The Ridgeline-bash circlejerk clutters up threads like these without adding anything other than negativity and false information. It's like a bad meme around here that won't go away.

People like to express themselves through objects, be they clothing, vehicles, food etc.

Some people like sports cars, some like 4x4 trucks and SUVs, some prefer luxury cars. And others just see their vehicle as a tool, nothing more and that's okay....but...car companies don't spend billions in design and advertising for no reason. They want to appeal to an Image that people want to project. Looks matter, appearances the difference between profit and loss.

So it's great that you'e above wanting to appear macho by driving a truck but that's not reflective of the market.

I looked at it briefly when I was getting my CR-V serviced an it felt EXACTLY like my CR-V and I hated my CR-V, so I got me a taco. The Honda AWD is a joke, WTF is with the ground clearance, WTF is with the low center console. Not for me and I was Honda guy. It does even have a tow hook or loop on the front end. Buy a Subaru Outback - it has a better AWD, more ground clearance, and at least a effin tow hook/loop on the front.

Ridgeline sold about 54 trucks on average in ever state last month.
I wonder how they can survive.
I would worry about parts availability in the future if I bought one today.

New Rangers might give Tacoma some competition.

With only one engine only available a 4 cylinder I seriously doubt it.
    I bet it's a flop.

Tacoma needs a diesel or hybrid option for those that crave 30+ mpg
