    882 are just taller coils. 883 are the ones that are heavier.

    I originally had 881 and changed out to 883 when it turned out I was going with a heavier setup. Also note that I have a DC 4x4 Auto which is the heaviest 1st gen stock.

    I certainly didn't *have* to go with King coilovers, but I did. 98% of us don't go places that a well driven 100% stock truck couldn't go. So yeah, there's a lot of "for show" going on. I would actually prefer it if there was a "black" option for my Kings instead of the flashy bright blue.

    When it came time to bite the bullet on $1000+ coilovers, I went through all the major brands in the ~$1000 range ($1400+ was too rich for me). Fox is good, but honestly too many bros with 16 resi shocks on each corner out there- I just couldn't do it. ICON and King frothed to the top because they both offered extended travel options. I chose not to go with resis because honestly, those are pretty overplayed as well. If you're running whoops at 80mph all day, yeah get them. However I never felt my 5100's fade with my driving style, so the conventional Kings would easily suffice. So it came down to dampening. King/Fox is linear, Icon/Bilstein is digressive. Figure out what suits your driving style and stick to it.

    If you look through my build thread, you'll probably notice I couldn't give a rat's ass what my truck looks like. I mean, I care a little, but not really, lol. The clear coat on my rear fenders is totally pealing and chipping, my DIY bedliner has seen better days, my grill is all hacked to pieces to fit my winch, half the stickers (the ones that add 40hp and #gram points) are all torn and broken, I use BBQ paint for anything I build on the truck, and my CBI bumper is one of those 30 foot jobs - it looks good form 30 feet away, but get up close and you can tell I welded it together, lol.

    In the end, get what you want. Be honest with what you use it for, and don't buy stuff just because you saw some guy on instagram roll it. I'm sure there is more than one person who bought Icons for their mostly daily driver, then complain about the ride on the road. Should'a bought Kings or Fox my man! :D
