Yeah they look ridiculous, just a wall of chrome. Dodge 3500 is similar.

I agree, I think this forum is great, lots of very smart dudes and tons of great info. Ford ranger forum that i was on is way worse, bunch of kids. When i posted a pic of my K&N intake, the comments they made...

There always will be douchebags on any forum.

Pickup trucks went off the rails when they added the second set of doors, same with the Wrangler. Such is the price of popularity.

I did a search and couldn't find anything that seemed relevant. I really would like to see this.

Not denying that things have become much more of an instafabulous how much broverlanding shit can I bolt on my truck discussion around here lately but I feel like first genners had very similar complaints about the second gen forum before 2016 - maybe to a slightly lesser extent.

I think part of it is that the real enthusiasts (who also contribute the useful content around here) hang onto their trucks opposed to dumping them for the "latest and greatest" every few years. The folks modding out their 3rd gens for instagram pics are also the ones selling them for whatever is trendy 2 years down the line.

Once the 4th gen comes out I'd wager this forum will filter down to people actually doing cool/useful stuff like the 2nd gen forum did instead of folks complaining their tacoma is louder and not as smooth as their BMW they owned before.

And for the record I HATE raptor lights on anything other than a raptor. Dumbest mod ever for a mid sized truck, or jeep, or rav4 (yes I've seen it!), or anything else. :bananadead::crapstorm:

There is definitely a "Tacoma World" look that is popular here with the 3rd gens.
I will say I have met some really great people and gone on a couple of trips I wouldn't have otherwise because of this site.

That alone is worth filtering through the BS.

Agreed. When I had a first gen the forum was quieter but the posts) info shared was quality stuff for the most part. Then with the 2nd gen, less quality info, more useless/redundant posts and just more stupid overall. Now I own a 3rd gen and thus, spend more time here trying to learn what I can and maybe be of some help. I'm a bit of an asshole, though, so I could be part of the problem. I need to stop smashing trucks, good low miles examples of previous generations are hard to come by.

    Oh, the irony!

The not searching before making a new thread is the worst. 20 threads a week on wheel/tire size that will fit or one asking a question that could be answered in milliseconds using a regular Google search. Thanks to all that, if you do actually use the search tool there will be 100 thread results, all about the same thing, but only one or two will have anything useful in it. Good luck sifting through that pond of internet diarrhea.

When I joined after buying my 2016, in late 2015, there were endless threads solely dedicated to complaints by the 2nd gen owners about how ugly the grill was. They finally came around and all of them love it now.

In a way, I hope their sales plummet. I am going to get so much flak, but the 3rd gen is an unimpressive truck. (It is the only midsize I would consider though, looks alone kill the competition.) They need to look at what Ram and Ford are doing in the full-size market.

The interior materials are doodoo, they put the roughest possible, paper-thin rubber on the door cards. It's as if they needed to find a way to make it more uncomfortable to rest your elbow on than bare plastic would be. I could list 100 other things like lack of power and the trans, but they really rely on their name to sell some of their vehicles.

I find my 3rd Gen far more comfortable than my prior 1st or 2nd Gen's.

I have been in truck forums for 20 years. They are all pretty much the same.

Never signed up my dude, lurked and read up before deciding to finally join, so ya 2011 when I bought my 2008 Prerunner after my first deployment and stationed at DM in AZ, was here for the first days of Smitty in the 3rd gen section, when people lost their mind seeing the fuzzy headlight picture of the 3rd gen prior to its release when BHLMs and Homer Satashi Grilles were the rage in the 2nd gen section, my first mod was the combi locks from a thread here for my 2008 Rad Red, I was around before there was a like button and before banning was a frequent thing, so ya seen the forum evolve. See my sig, have had a few Tacomas over the years, was even a newb who ran spacers at one point :)

Nice! That bed tent looks pretty good, I was thinking of getting one sometime. Yeah, we prefer to keep it simple. Like you said all that nice outdoor gear is very expensive, especially here in Canada. Queen size air matress goes in that tent, so its very comfortable :). We bring a little camping stove, a speaker, some food/drinks, clothes, maybe a kayak or a paddleboard and thats pretty much it. Big fire is definitely a must! Love camping, cant wait for warmer weather. Wife not a huge fan of colder weather camping.[/QUOTE]
