Tacoma code P2443

I could sure use some help. My Taco with 72 K just threw this code. I recently changed my plugs to new Denso's and cleaned the Maf sensor. I have not seen any elimination codes for this year and this secondary air system. I have also changed out the foam air filter in the air pump to the recommended one in this site. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That’s a common code on 2012 models, not so much for 2015. Is it a hard code with CEL or is it a “pending” code via a scan device?

 

it comes up on the dash as trac off and check engine. I have noticed no performance or other issues.

 

I know the 2012 has an extended coverage campaign for this. Search and see if your 2015 does as well. It’s over $1,000 to replace the system but yours should be covered, I believe.

 

My 2014 Tacoma threw code 2443 yesterday. 38200 miles. Dealer wants $1000 to fix. He says there is no campaign to fix but corporate may be willing to help due to low mileage. I'll find out Monday. I called corporate and they seemed to want to help but didn't actually say they would.

 

A realize this can end up being an expensive repair. What I post next may be part of a former TW thread pointed to in post #2, but I don't have time to read those 50 pages.
I ran across this snippet on the web - pertaining to code P2443:

Code P2443 is for the secondary air injection switching valve stuck closed and the exhaust may have melted the valve causing it to stick closed. Make sure you correct any engine lean condition that could be the reason the exhaust is getting hotter than normal. Correct all codes retrieved.

 

The letter that was issued does not specify an error code therefore it would cover anything even related to the Air Injection Pump and Air Switch Valves. I'm on the call with corporate right now.

 

Please post results- started getting this code recently on my 2012..
