    True as the term expresses a factor for the chilling effect of wind on exposed flesh making your skin colder than ambient; however wind can cause "things" with no flesh to lose heat faster (down to ambient, no less) than they would with lower velocity or no wind...

    Absolutely true. That's why I look @ the flags or vapour trails. Park with the Rad. Not facing the wind.

    Damn, I thought our 33° was close to bone chilling (been here in FL for 26 years now, getting acclimated I guess)...

    Want a shock to your system, go live/work in west Africa for three years, then come back home for xmas to see friends in Calgary. Not so much fun. Although when I cam home in the summer time and I was wearing hoodies all the time and not sweating it freaked a bunch of people out.

    Now I cannot handle the cold as well as I could.

    My buddy worked in Alaska for a couple of years and mentioned that it got down to -20F (sometimes colder) during the winter. I just can’t imagine that kind of cold.

    Here in San Antonio, we recently had the coldest day in about 3 years at 21F and that was absolutely bone chilling to me.

    I guess when you have the proper equipment it makes life more bearable but I just cannot imagine living in a place where it’s routinely below freezing!

    I lived on Cape Cod and in Maine for 45 years, been here 26 as previously stated.

    I miss:
    • Crisp, clean air--Florida has a permanent musty smell (that you do get used to eventually);
    • Real seasons--we have 2-1/2. The "1/2" is nice/nippy, early-December through February, the other two are hot, and friggin' HOT;
    • It is the cootie capital of the world, more damned kinds of bugs than you ever thought possible;

    I do not miss:
    • Scraping windshields and shoveling snow;
    • Watching my vehicles rust out from under me;
    If those are the price I must pay for "musty" and "HOT" and "cooties" then so be it...

    --------------------------------------------
    Did I mention "Palmetto bugs"? But the good news is they are big enough you can shoot them.
