Hello all, I am looking for dash cam recommendations for my cars. As of now, I have a Nexar pro that's been used for a couple of years. I used to record videos of my driving in a continuous video and not in intervals of one minute. I was able to watch the whole thing on my phone app but now it does not even let me see it. Also when I try to watch it on my computer using the micro SD card, it would be broken down into one minute videos which I don't mind. With that being said, Im looking for dash cams that has front and rear cameras and maybe parking mode. Also being able to watch the whole trip would be nice. Thank you in advance!

Edited to add more after you posted I guess. I've had it since July, with the rooftop tent on my bed being able to have a rear view again is nice. I would like to have spent less money but seems to be the going rate for most "high end" ones.

I bought a NextBase GW552 because the base locks to the (used to be windshield but now is) rearview mirror console. 4K video is impressive, took this video of a fast-passing truck (I have one a couple of micro-seconds earlier you can read the plate), and took the video when he rolled the truck 1/2 mile away. Can add rear-view options (in-cab and on-rear-window). The camera can be removed from its base for room while the base remains.

Am I imagining it, or did the first 3rd gens come with a built in dash cam holder by the mirror??

Dashcams to collect license plates are a lost cause. Mine catches a license plate when the other vehicle is within 20 ft. Beyond that it is too fuzzy. But they do show color, size, mostly the brand, the actions ... enough to record what you need in an accident.

A dashcam works even when you have forgotten it is working and focus on other things. If you are unconscious and cannot speak for yourself, the dashcam has the footage. Yes, someone can steal it, but I would think another witness would notice that a person not the police removed it.

Here's a sample, front and rear from my Wolfbox. The front has a polarizing lens on it, the edges block some of the screen so I might take it off, and the mount I 3d printed is a bit shakey(I need to find a better model). No cool wrecks, just a Lowes run. Check the end of the video for non-edited audio. Youtube really kills the quality.. The front doesn't look as good compared to direct off the files.

Another vote for Rexing. I have a Garmin too, but man it was a pain to setup and get working the way I wanted to / thought it should.

I just put in a FitCam. Took all of 5 minutes to install the front cam. I got the option for the rear. Took another 20 minutes to install it because I had to run the included cable around the edge of the headliner and attach it to the back glass. I have clear Xpel ceramic tint on my back glass and it sees through it just fine.

Purchased Toyota Certified, with Vijay bumpers, additional lights, and Falken Wildpeaks on Fuel rims. Prev owner apparently painted the grill.
First mod I did was install a Viofo A129 Plus duo. 2K video, front and rear, parking mode, microphone, and GPS. Currently $150 here is a screen shot from a video I saved where someone lost a wheel on our morning commute. Wheel did it's best to keep going tho.
    upload_2024-8-27_8-9-35.png
Back camera got knocked off by my hard hat, didn't notice until I grabbed this video...
    upload_2024-8-27_8-12-53.png
Previous owner had the windows tinted pretty heavily, no trouble with the video though.

Catching tag numbers is hit or miss, having the microphone means that if I want to identify, I can read the tag out loud and it records on the footage. It won't help in a catastrophic event, but it is a way to increase my chances of catching a hit & run.
