Mazda and Toyota are shaking hands a bit. Personally I’d like to see Mazdas SKYACTIV-X engine which can use compression ignition with gasoline.

Pulling 12000 pound loads sucks donkeys on a gas engine. There just comes a size limit when diesel is the only efficient choice.

Commuting to work sucks donkeys on a diesel engine. They have no response, they're high maintenance, and parts aren't cheap.

They are more common on the consumer level than they should be because hurr hurr black smoke makes me look tough.

GM has it available in their Colorado apparently. Stuff I read about the Colorado, however, scare me off. Evidently they are insanely unreliable.

Optional LED headlights, sequential turn signals, power seat, tech pkg-advance tech pkg, collision avoidance system, dual zone climate control, a computer in the dash board... a drum brakes.

The drum brakes don't follow the theme.

I don't know about that. My 2018 Ram 2500 rode better, accelerated better, had a nicer and more comfortable interior and did all of that while getting significantly better fuel economy than my 2nd gen or 3rd gen. It was just a huge truck to drive back and forth to work when not towing anything.

I think people like to wax poetic and think today's diesels are like the olden days with no electronics no emissions controls and this son of bitch is going to run forever like some VW rabbit burning veggie oil.

In the end no one talks about how expensive they are when shit goes wrong with a modern diesel. This forum already has enough tight asses looking to save a buck on oil and filters. They claim to drive in extreme conditions, but won't follow the service schedule for extreme conditions.

We had a 6.7 Powerstroke in the fleet at work and I will admit that thing is quick for a heavy truck. I wouldn't want the maint on it for extreme service.

We haven't got cooling seats yet, maybe in 2030 it will be a driver seat only option

I don’t know, I kind of get what you are saying though. I honestly could care less about drums. It doesn’t bother me one bit. From my experience they last longer and are cheaper to maintain in the long run.

Tacoma braking performance competes with other midsize trucks, I see no issues at all here.

Diesel. It was awesome when I needed it but a pain the majority of the time when I didn't because of the size.

I was talking more about for people who choose to drive diesel rather than actually need them.

Our lab truck is a 6.7 redneck limo. 8 foot bed crew cab, old school manual locking hubs. Driving that fat bastard around town makes me appreciate the taco.

Actually I'm picking up a rental 24 foot trailer tomorrow to haul some equipment to one of our plants. I have to admit that it tows heavy with less effort than how mine pulls my little popup camper. :anonymous:

Cooled seats might be nice where it gets very hot. Heated seats are nice when it's cold, but a midsize truck is not supposed to be a Flying Spur.

Yeah I can see that with a diesel.

Not the best daily driver, definitely! Haha!

I actually was looking to buy a 12 valve 99-2000s dodge Cummins with a manual but they are so hard to come by. There were a couple decent ones for sale but the price was ridiculous. Those dodges are amazing on gas and super reliable. When I see a nice one I stare and drool, haha!

I forget the Tacoma has rear drums. Drums are fine with me. Once all that tech is added to the truck, the drums seem out a place.
