They are brakes. They stop as well as anything. Quit bitching and go spend the $5K for conversion and Wilwoods or not.

Lighten up Francis, I also stated in another post relating to rear drums that I never had any issues on my 2018 drums. Go back and find the user that took the OPs post so far off track. I brought up valid points, if there were benefits for drums every other manufacturer would still be using them on their LIGHT trucks. I have to put that there because someone will bring up class 8 trucks. It boils down to dollars and Toyota being cheap. The shoes and drums from a 2005 will work on a 2021.

I love diesels, owned them since 1991 and up until a couple of months ago when I sold the last one.

Modern diesels suck, not because of bad engineering of the actual engine, but because of modern EPA requirements. Until some one builds a diesel that's efficient enough to avoid having to install, DPFs, EGRs and have to us DIF they will continue to suck. All these EPA installed equipment create issues, which hurt reliability, MPGs and the EGRs are detrimental to longevity.

Modern Diesels are are not reaching their protentional life expectancy or efficiency. You can't expect an engine to live long when your pumping diesel exhaust, along with crankcase gases back through the intake. You're stuffing an abrasive (sot) with oil from the crankcase through your entire engine.

I traded in my last diesel to buy my new Tacoma because it was constantly in the shop due to emission issues and some other issues not related to emission.

+1 on this one. Rumor is Colorado/Canyon is going 4 cylinder turbo only with the next gen.

A Tacoma Prime could be pretty interesting. All the reviews make the Rav4 Prime seem pretty well rounded. And with a Turbo 4, OvTune can help us turn up the boost.

    Rear discs would be nice.

Diesel = DPF+SCR+DEF = No start countdown+ Limp Home Mode + flatbed tow = wallet enema.

Yep, there are some good YouTube videos about it.

Ferd is trying to dominate the mini truck market since nobody is offering is one at the moment. I think it will be a huge fail, and it looks worse than a ridge line.

Why do some vehicles just keep getting uglier and uglier. No wonder taco is the best selling pickup. Looks great straight from the factory. Well there are other things too.

With a price of 20K I think it may do a bit better than you think. I mean....if your in the market for a new vehicle in the 20k price range, you have the choice of a bunch of small cars or this....I think this might get some attention.

I respectfully disagree. Hybrid 40 mpg for about 25k or so? I think it will sell better than the ranger. For 35k or so you can get one with more power than the Taco, so I think it will be very popular.

I kinda like it more than I thought I would. If I was in the market for a unibody truck, it's the first place I'm going, and I hate Fords.

Lots of people that post here would be better served by a truck like this. I just hope Toyota is paying attention.

That front is ugly as sin though.

I don’t believe I read in previous comments, so I’ll say it. Sorry if repeating.

Diesel Toys posted a comment a while back that due to covid they ran out of supply of diesels to even swap into their customers vehicles. Covid = less people driving and less people crashing world wide. So prices jumped even higher. Just rechecked and that comment is still live on their site under 3rd Gen Tacoma’s.

So even if you wanted to make your own new 2022 diesel Tacoma you can’t.

For 20k what else could you buy? a reliable car that might not be all that reliable or the Maverick. Who ever is buying a new Maverick will already consider that it will be reliable. I see plenty of Bronco Sports on the road, and those cost more than a Maverick.

    Interesting.

I did not see the 25k price tag, thought it would’ve been closer to 40k. Yeah, you might be right, maverick might not be bad at all then.

That front end though... That would be enough for me not to buy that thing, haha!

Well we will see, curious to how it looks in person.

Fords base starting price on the Maverick is $19,995. and the Hybrid is the standard engine configuration.

Yeah I was gonna say the base is 20K. Ford put themselves in a good position with this.

Yeah, one major drawback, it’s a FORD.

I’m sticking with Toyota! Past four Toyota’s never let me down.

Did own a new, puke yellow Ford Courier in high school but it was only badged a Ford
made by Mazda or other Asian. manufacture.

Paid 3,700 on the EZ payment plan co-signed by big brother. 70 bucks a month, plus 30 bucks for insurance, a weeks pay as a box boy at libal supermarket.

Poor, two wheel drive was forced to boldly tread where only invincible teenagers dare to trek.
