alright i got mine installed yesterday testing the kit for the first gen and right away i was pleased was super easy to install and once done even in the middle of the day was super bright. so when i took the truck out at night to see just how bright they were i discovered something wrong. when the truck was completely shut off and the dome light is set to turn on when the door opens it doesnt light up completely it just flickers. same as the map lights when the truck is completely shut off and you try and turn them on they just flicker and if i turn them all on at the same time they dont even flicker just nothing. turn the truck on to accessory and they work perfect. i dont know if its just a first gen problem or maybe a fuse problem like stated before any ideas? if it wasnt for that i would be very impressed with these and could suggest them for the first gen but only if we can come up with a reason and way to fix the flickering.....

QUast, I have heard of this problem for the first gen when going to LED. I would be more than happy to refund you if you are not happy with it just as long as you send the kit back!

    It is mentioned here:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/lighting/154318-48smd-led-dome-lights-4.html#post3229746

thanks again for being a first gen guinea pig! Let me know what you want to do! Not sure what toyota did different on the 1st gen but their other trucks did not have a problem like this...

Thanks for the comments guys! I just really want to have a really good rep here on the forums! I also understand that there may be manufacturer errors(like what whippersnapper has experienced) and compatibility issues(like what quast has experienced) and it is my responsibility to fix the issues as best as I can:D

Question: will running a larger fuse in the lighting circuit fix the first gen lighting problem? Will more power get to the lights if the "dome" fuse is replaced? The one I have in my LC is a 10A and taco 2nd gens have 7.5A...what does the first gen have? THIS IS A QUESTION NOT A SUGGESTION! lol

Received and installed mine this weekend. Took ten minutes and looks great.
Here is a pic I took showing the difference between the OEM and standard kit bulb:

My wife asked "do you really need something this bright .. and how much do you spend on mods?". I laughed .. I said "yes, and who cares" ...

These stage 2 kits are BRIGHT! During the day, after install, I thought "they seem OK". Then I took the truck out at night, and was amazed! AWESOME!!

Sorry for the shitty pics, but this is the best my iPhone would do.

Backseat with just the dome light on:

Overall with just done light on:

Front seats with maps and dome:
    IMG_0582_7f83a521a68f1f27c3019cb1efc55521565983f4.jpg

    Fronts with just maps:
    IMG_0584_ae867e7f60133485755aa57d88260f3a7b741f8f.jpg

Both maps, and dome from outside:

when I was done taking the pics, I went inside .. leaving both map lights on overnight (about 9.5 hours.)... Realized it when I got in the truck to go to work. It started right up, and the lights were as cool as could be. AWESOME!!!!
