Anyone have a moulding alternative to the OEM option? I have a rhino rack track that calls for me to cut the OEM piece and I refuse to waste almost $200+ if I decide to sell the truck ever

You couldn't sell it with the Rhino Rack on the truck?

I work at an offroad shop. Lots of people want us to save all of the OEM stuff so they can put it back to stock. Half of them never pick it up. We aren't aware of a single person who has chosen to put their truck back to stock.

Well I think at any rate I’d rather not cut up the original that came with the truck just in case. So wondering if there’s another option to fill that spot

Just cut it, and then if you sell the roof rack, include in the deal that buyer need to swap your moulding for theirs. Or hit a junk yard and pull one off a wrecked unit. The other option is just cut it, save it and if you decide to ditch the rack, use a butyl glue and glue the section back in, hit it with a tire cleaner and it will all look brand new again. No big deal. It's up high enough no one would ever notice a couple glue lines on the moulding as it sits down in the groove of the roof.

You gotta commit here man. No wading in allowed.

I drilled mine for my Prinsu and didn't think twice about it. If I trade it and sell my rack separately, I'd just trade it in minus the strips. I'd bet good money no one would notice.

I have every single stock part on my truck that I have swapped out, except this one so I get your vibe.

Lol the point of this thread is to see other options just so I don’t have to cut the OEM one. I did the same with my last car. I took everything off and sold all the aftermarket parts separate

If it helps, when I traded in a 4runner a couple years ago I had a roof rack on it that I built and had to hack the moulding up. The dealership liked that it had a "custom roofrack" they can mark it up and sell if for more because it has some aftermarket accessories on it. The chances of anyone ever seeing it are slim. the other option would be to just run the rhino rack without the moulding altogether. It doesnt affect the weatherproofing of the roof in anyway as water just runs under it anyway. You could always go get a roll of bulb seal and make your own molding that fits the the rhino rack. Only thing I would suggest is if you do run without the moulding, throw a good thick coat of wax down in that groove as the paint and clear coat under it typically are thin and shitty anyway. I cut the moulding on my wife's 2021 T4R TRD PRO and when I pulled it from the channel you could see the primer in some spots. they stick that moulding in when the paint is still soft.

I had to put my truck back to stock once just to get my taillight replaced under warrenty. The new taillight broke just like it did originally (manufacture defect) so I bought aftermarket lights. This was before I had my lift and rack installed.

I still have all my stock parts and I haven't done anything irreversible yet

I haven’t checked Rockauto yet. Maybe I should also state that I’m looking for something to hide wires under too. The OEM moulding would work, but I’m curious if there’s anything else that allow multiple wires to sit flush underneath. I completely forgot to mention that bit

Drilled my 2nd Gen for the Prinsu, moved the rack to the 3rd Gen and traded in the old truck with holes plugged by silicone and duct tape. Zero people noticed.

I also take the tags off my clothes and throw away the packaging from Amazon. Crazy right?
