Tacoma Door Handle (Rod Problem)

Howzit Folks!

Having a bit of trouble here, hoping someone can help me out.

The passenger side, exterior door handle on my truck stopped working the other day. I had originally assumed the plastic piece notorious for breaking had gone out, so I ordered a new handle.

yesterday I went to install, and the new handle didn’t work either.

after playing around with them both, I figured out that the rod seems to either be bent, or not working correctly and is causing the mechanism to pull outward instead of down.

any ideas on how I can fix it?

 

I'd maybe post a video of it in action. If you remove the window track that will help you gain more access to see what is actually going on. Once you can get a look at what happens as you pull on the handle you should know where to go next. This video does a pretty good job of showing everything to take apart.

Thanks so much! I was struggling trying to figure out how I would get the whole assembly out as opposed to just the handle…
