Wow. This situation is horrible through and through, and this mistake may seem almost unforgiveable, but in my opinion, we don't get to make that decision. The families involved do, to a large degree, but not alone.

I can't imagine that none of us here have made bad decisions before, even really bad ones, likely a few way worse than this guy although we were lucky enough to not have the potential consequences come to reality.

I'd suggest we just keep the families in mind, including that of the driver, and hope that there is a reason he(was it a he?) lived. I'd just go ahead and give them the chance to make good on that reason.

hopefully everyone that reads this article, and any other article that involves anyone drinkin and drivin, will at least talk to their kids... friends... family and at least encourage no drinkin and drivin.

i know it might sound stupid, but u never know what kind of influence u can make on someone if u just tell them to be more careful & bare down on the "i actually care" kind of statement.

hell it took me seein the leftover of a wreck that killed a girl that got thrown from her car on the way to school after she dropped a cd on the floor board, reached down to get it, swerved & hit a mailbox, then a curb, went airbourne and got thrown over 50ft and killed her after it broke her neck.

needless to say, from that day forward i have NOT yet drove my truck or rode with anyone else w/o my seatbelt on. i always encourage the same for others.

so maybe from this accident, the friends/loved ones & maybe even some that read about it, will more than likely never drink & drive again.

Unfortunately reading about what happens to others does not encourage people to put on their seatbelts... SC has way over 50% (don't know the exact number - maybe TF might know %) of people die in accidents who are not wearing seat belts. A good number of them have also been drinking. Don't you know that accidents happen to the other guy and not me...

Condolences to the families of the kids killed, and the one who survived.

People who get behind the wheel while drunk get no sympathy from me.

I've drank and driven in the same night, I'll admit, but I've NEVER been drunk while driving. I always hang around long enough until I'm sober to drive somewhere, whether or not I want to be at the party. I'd rather be bored off my ass for another hour or so rather than drive home and kill myself, or even worse, have to deal with killing someone else in the process because I was a fucking idiot.

People don't take enough responsibility for their actions today.

Every party/event/whatever where alcohol is being consumed we take car keys. If your drinking your staying the night. Period. I wont let anyone near a vehicle if they are consuming alcohol.

This kid is gonna learn his lesson the hard way. My thoughts go out to the family and friends who are effected by this.

There is zero excuse for drinking and driving. Zero.

I hope that kid rots in jail for a long long long time. I've said it on here somewhere before, but killing somebody in a DUI accident should = 1st degree murder.

Thank God he didn't hit any pedestrians or other cars.

I used to live a few blocks from coyote hills park. And jared was one of my little bros friends, they went to elementary - high school together. This accident happened on a neighborhood side street, by the looks of the crash he must of been haulin. RIP Miles, and Jacqueline.

Sad for everyone involved. Hopefully a lesson for all to learn. With his prior record, he's going to have a hard time getting off easy on this one.
