Tacoma ECU Tuning for 4.0L

I am Running my NA Tune. Posted about it a few pages back. Digging it so far. Tried 87 and 91 tunes.

 

@OVTune Not sure if this was addressed already but wondering if you would be able to tune the s/c with the 7th injector mod?

I could be wrong, but I think the ECU only supports up to 6 injectors.

 

Does anybody know if a tablet will suffice in place of a pc? I haven't either so I'm looking into a budget solution.

 

You are talking the self tuner option I take it? It would have to be capable of running a program not an app. The handheld tuners come with a handheld calibrator

 

I believe it's the hand held yes. I'm just not very tech savvy.

 

I keep eagerly awaiting the mail man for my delivery. I feel like a puppy.

 

I’m about to show how illiterate I am. If I buy the new hand held tuner, do I need anything else like a computer or laptop to install this tune?

 

Yes you'll need something with a USB port and internet connection to download the tune onto the handheld tuner.

 

Better to be illiterate than just plain stupid. I can read, just chose to buy before reading. Now I have to buy a f×<#ing computer too

Today is the day I’d planned to go visit Mat @OVTune

I’m currently up in Dana Point. The trip down to Vista is basically a three hour detour in today’s travel plans. I’d planned to visit my sister for lunch in San Marcos and then drop in and buy a tuner from Mat. Sister has cancelled on me and I’ve been unable to confirm an address for ov tuning. Multiple emails and messages here on the forum have proven fruitless. As a result, I will not be heading south from here.

I did however notice that the new tuners have hit the site. So, since my particular calibration is not yet avail, the physical visit to OVtuning seems unnecessary. I now join the eager folks awaiting their winning bingo numbers to be picked.

 

We've all had the same luck with replies, so don't feel left out.

 

The last email I sent over was that your ECU version isn't in the database yet so I could not do the truck in person

I know I have not been getting back to people as timely as possible but I am still working on things in the background. I try to post what I can here to get the word out to as much people as possible.

Ok, I actually understand how this works now. I’ll use my wife’s laptop which is not window based, however I understand there is a way to make that work. I’ll dig around and find that process. I think Loginfailed mentioned it on the blower thread. I’m going to buy the tune and have my long tubes finally installed. I do believe I’ve read that Mat can override the cel so I will not need sims. Or am I crazy?

 

Yes he said he can eliminate the cel cause by deleted cats.

 

If you have an Apple laptop, you can install a copy of Windows in a virtual environment such as Virtualbox, Parallels or VMWare. Or you can use Apple Bootcamp to creat a Windows partition on the Mac and boot straight to that. YouTube is your friend.

 

Doesn't it need to be a Mac with Intel processor? IE: Mac book pro for windows to work? Been a while for me but I remember that's how it worked.

 

Yes I believe they started using intel processors late 2006. So if your machine was made in the last 10 years it should be possible.
