Anyone have experience with tuning the 4.0 for long tube headers and free flowing air intake? I don't have a supercharger. Also no AFR gauge

I don't think that can be tuned without a supercharger

N/A, some people go to 6200. Boosted, with a stock engine, safer is better. URD does ~5800.

Mine is only set to 6100, but built for 7+.

With the self tune, it has a datalogging feature. You'll be able to see all critical data from the factory sensors, and adjust accordingly.

at this point not enough documentation on ovtune's web site for a savvy person to use. maybe the software's help covers everything - a demo would be nice.
thanks. i want to self tune for sure. i'm OK starting with canned tune but would like to be able to self tune and made tweaks to the canned tune. is the canned tunes compatible with i0TUNE?

how is the a/f controlled at WOT? is ecu reading a fixed fuel map at WOT without adjustments from 02 feedback? or is ecu reading 02 and making adjustments even at WOT?

Wondering if you had a chance to add this one yet. I've updated the tablet tuner couple of times and I'm still getting the calibration fie not found 3YWG4300. I might be doing something wrong on my side:notsure: Here's some pics of my truck for the heck of it :)IMG_1002.jpg IMG_1110.jpg

We will have more info about how it all works early next month.

WOT is open loop, Fuel map + load + multipliers / other compensations for variables

Pending YWG files (like one above) will be in monday. I will have all pending handheld tune files out this weekend

Since there's many who just got support, and many also that are interested in this, I'll post my review of the OVT tune.

I'm tuned on a 06 dcsb off-road, 4.0 auto trans and stock gears NA. I'll be swapping to 4.30 hopefully by the end of the year.

Gained 4mpg from the 91-Eshift tune. Went from averaging 240/tank at most, weather it be my 265/75/16 LR-E AllTerains or on my 285/70/17 LR-E mud tires. With my miles per gallon math at fill up, not adjusting for tire size, I'm seeing 280/tank now vs the 240/tank max with the stock Toyota tune. +~8%(I think) for difference in tires. I'm running airflow snorkel mated to a volant Cai for breathing room, with a full catless 2"1/2exhaust. DTLT's with urd comp y and mbrp can and a resonator from my buddies 2014 f150 5.0 that nicely eliminated the 2600rpm and above rasp. Lost my jakebrake tho! :( the way factory tune cuts injectors on coast between 2300 and 2800rpm basically resulted in dfco/exhaust valves open giving the Jake chatter sound.

Over all definitely a good impression based upon mpg's gained and the E-shift tune keeps the truck in 5th easier eliminating the constant 4th-5th hunt around 40/45mph light throttle. I've put about 700miles on the 91-E tune so far. I typically drive 20miles at most per day for work commute. The truck barely warms up to operating temp by the time I pull into the shop, but I'll have a long range 200mile one way trip coming up to see the city vs highway results. So far so :mudding:

I know there's a, pardon my French, "bastard few" with ecu's that have yet to be supported but after my 7month wait from purchase to vicariously living the lucky few who where supported within weeks or even at time of purchase, I'll say right now, without dyno results and strictly from my observation, the juice is worth the squeeze. I had my reservations and sold my original hand held, then got sellers remorse and managed to aquire one from another member here. I mean, what's another $500 to the $2000 I've spent on NA bolt ons only to find out they don't do shit without a tune. And as far as I can tell, the tune I'm running isn't specific to my situation/mods, just a cleaned up and improved variant of the factory ECU map. Once everyone has support across the 2nd gen 4.0, hopefully we will see custom tunes that include adjustments based off the data OVT observes from logs provided by users. I'm sure there's a few more HP/tq I could gain from a more detailed/refined tune in my scenario.

Just from reading what the URD ucon can achieve with FBO NA mods, gadget claims "up to 50hp gains" in that scenario. However I don't think it's likely I'll see up to 50hp with any tune or piggyback.

Well mpg is nice and all but what about power?
So you have to run 91 octane now? Is that what it means? And lost your jake brake? Sounds like that's not for me then.

Edit: forgot to thank you for your review. Thank you!

Bahaha, sorry, I'm sure you weren't trying to be funny but I wasn't worried about the Jake brake it was just a side effect of being catless, and at the right rpm range in selected gear, it would seem/sound like it floated the exhaust valves with foot off the throttle and engine braking, producing the Jake brake sound. While entertaining at the most, the tune really had nothing to do with it going away. Yes I am required to run 91 minimum now. Going from $3.57/g to $4.00/g was a hit for sure. I typically pay $65-$70 to fill up once the gas light comes on depending on the gas station I'm at, also more on the $70 end for 18ish gallons of ethanol free. Mpg's improved, but as the saying goes, you can't have the best of both worlds, ie: more hp/mpg at the same time. However to see my power increase (purely my opinion with no data to back it) along with the combination of my bolt on mods and the tune, seeing mpgs increase simultaneously was a suprise. Again, I can't honestly say or prove this to be true without a Dyno sheet for power increase, but I've been told numbers don't lie when it comes to calculating mpg's using miles/gallons filled, when adjusting for any differences In tire size. I can easily revert to stock tune to achieve before and after results, but since following the 3rd gen OVT threads, Matt has repeated ad nauseum you can't constantly flip flop from 91/87 tunes and expect instant results. You really need to run the tune for 1000"s or more miles to ultimately see the benefits. You may feel a difference between how the 91/87 tunes act or respond, but the ECU needs time to provide a consistant result based on your driving style and habits. AFAIK the 2nd gen tacomas are a learning ecu also similar to the 3rd gens, but I haven't read or heard if that changes when flashing the OVT file on 2nd gens. I know it's a big deal with 3rd gens. I can't speak for 6spd results since I'm automatic.
