Due to how much special attention the 3rd gen requires we haven't been able to keep up with updates on the 4.0L Platform.

We have V2 tunes for the Supercharged trucks, but nothing new so far for the N/A.

Good news is our editor platform will be up and running, better than ever and bug free next month. For people who want to tune their own trucks. Or do additional tuning on top of our tunes.

That will be our new focus going into 2019. Provide a tuning solution for people to make tunes. I dont have the capacity to continue to provide individualized tunes for so many people.
Just the 3rd gen by itself is a full time job and then some.

Is this option available for handheld users? Instead of sending the tune from the laptop directly to the ecu, would we need to just load it to the handheld from a computer and then from the handheld to the ecu?

The good news is I drove it almost 100 miles this morning. The bad news is we had several inches of snow yesterday and last night, so I wasn't able to play much. Initial observation is V2 does improve throttle response, but I'm not sure I felt/saw much else. (I'm not knocking it but, IMO, changes seem more evolutionary than revolutionary.)

Man, I was so excited when this thread started. Just wanted to get some more performance with a handheld tuner. Year and a half later my soul hurts. :angrygirl:

The way I see it is that if I provide the community software for tuning + support, answer tuning questions, and develop unique features (like modified tables, flex fuel, custom tables) by patching the ecu.. It will inevitably far exceed whatever I can provide as a "tuner."
The more people, shops, tuners playing with the ecu, the faster tuning, builds, mods, etc will progress. We intend to bring the best toyota tuning platform to market asap.

We still plan to support any customer that has our tunes/handhelds/ etc though. And will still offer our tunes for people who want it.

Are you still sending out NA tunes? Ive sent my info in, from the flash tune kit, on Dec 19th, and again on Jan 7th. Still haven't heard back about my initial tune.

Not looking for an individualized tune, just the initial canned NA tune. Bought the handheld tuner in Feb 2018, after waiting for many updates, they swapped it out for a Flash kit, since they weren't able to get the Handheld to work, even though its listed as one of the supported ECU's. I sent the first bit of info they needed from the Flash kit, and they sent my Reg file in Dec. Now just waiting on the tune file which was suppose to be a 3 day turnaround.

I’m glad I purchased the handheld, it has definitely improved the driving experience of my truck, no question!!

    BUT

It is frustrating to read time and again that the 4.0 will someday get tuning attention only to read reasons of delay due to the 3.5.

I do hope and have continued to hope for your Toyota ECU tuning successes but this time duration sucks.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Can we get the ECU numbers for the series you can’t tune so we don’t go through the headache of purchasing, updating, registering, downloading, emailing, waiting, waiting, waiting, to only find out that our ECU was the series you can’t get to work and don’t have time for right now? Thanks.

We are still working on all pending tunes yes. I'll update the main post as soon as possible.

All I can say right now is that this is just the beginning of what's possible for the 4.0.

I am one person, stuck with an endless cycle of fixing the 3.5 trucks ( which there are thousands ). It's taken so much of our time we had to drop everything else we do for 2019. But the good news is its only January and we are 95 percent done with the 3.5 updates. There's no way I could have known ahead of time just how bad it is, that's the problem.

All in al we have tuned *about* 80 - 100 4.0 trucks, but we are reaching 2000+ on the 3.5. And it's not even "tuning" as much as it is "fixing" the bipolar drivetrain calibration.

So, we absolutely still plan to support our 4.0 tunes now and into the future, I have even planned releasing for tundra this year. It would be helpful if we can hear from 4.0 people what they want, what they'd be willing to help us develop, etc. So we can develop it as a tune, and as part of our software.
I think that may be why 3.5 stuff exploded so fast, everyone was eager to help move development so quickly.

Oh there will be some mods all right
Main things I've been interested in since the beginning are the ability to delete the smog pump, a solid set of tunes for regular and premium gas, and the ability to get rid of codes related to headers and cat delete. A handheld is appealing because where I live isn't exactly vehicle enthusiast friendly, and I have no idea where the nearest tuning shop would be. I understand you've been swamped with the 3rd gen though, and I'm glad you're able to make people a lot happier with their trucks.

I would like to see a little more power squeezed out of both the 87 and 91 tune. Also add a towing tune with some more low end tq so the truck isn’t constantly downshifting.

I'd be down for a towing tune in either 87 or 91 octane.
More low end torque, holding each gear a little longer. That extra 3500lbs takes a bit more oomph to get started....
