That creating custom code takes a long time? We are working on one of the most difficult pieces of custom code to do on this ECU. Speed Density. That is tuning via MAP (pressure) sensor. The truck does not even have this sensor at all from factory, but is very useful for boost tuning purposes. This is going to take months.
That's something not available on ANY other software for this truck anywhere, from any company, etc.

I'm sorry that the reality is that tuning the 4.0L is not really all that popular, so what do you want us to do?? We need some sort of community involvement. Tell us what you'd want. etc.

There also seems to be everyone jumping to HPTuners now, getting tunes and *features* etc from things we have implemented in our tune over a year ago. It's all editing the stock tables, nothing outside of that.

Sorry for being honest. Writing custom code is back breakingly slow, tiring work, and the 4.0L is not in popular demand. I can promise you this, if people actually continued to buy our product, it would get the same amount of featured support as other platforms.
There is still a lot of potential in the 1GR-FE, and the amount of features through code is nearly endless.

Respectfully, you say all that, but you had this thread teaming with interest and followers and never delivered more than an 87 tune, a 91 tune and I repeatedly had to ask for a 93 tune, which you finally created after I posted about still wanting and waiting.

Feel free to search this thread for all my postings...Ive was an early customer and cheerleader of your work but you’ve just seemed to lost interest in this platform and lately post more in the HPTune thread than this one.

I’d respect more if you just said that tuning the 4.0 isn’t profitable endeavor for your company and that you’re stopping support and continue giving your input in the HP thread.

I know there is more power and efficiency possible in my truck. I’d like to be able to experience both, preferably when I want by just plugging in my handheld and changing the tune.

But repeatedly you’ve made statements of improvements coming....and us few still wait.

So I guess I’ll restore my factory tune, buy the HP kit and learn about tuning my own truck.

We have not stopped, development is just slow. That's the thing. I'm not trying to just make new tune versions without also adding useful code to the ECU to benefit.
I could continue playing with VVT... or tweak throttle a bit more, etc. But we did all of that already a year ago. I don't actually post there all that often. We didn't really lose interest in this platform. The issues we had in the beginning with getting all ECU IDs setup, which took a long time.. made the community lose interest in us. At the same time the 3.5 kind of cast it's shadow over everything.

improvements that we are working on, specifically the custom code we're working on, IS coming. But it's a long process. Take the 3.5L for example, the most popular truck we tune, even our first version of custom ignition features took more than a year to develop. This isn't going into the tune, adjusting some tables, or turning some knobs.

I know that in the end there really isn't a right answer that we can even provide. So all I can say is that we are working on more custom features through code, but it's a time consuming process.

    @OVTune

I would like a 91 tune for NA 4.0. If I can get more power and efficiency to offset the cost of the pricier gas I'm happy.

I would also like the SAIS turned off.

Can you program the transmission to lock up in 3rd gear for towing or does that require hardware changes?

Yeah I know, I would like to buy it. He was talking about not having any demand. I was waiting until all the kinks are out and the backlog cleared before buying.

Does the existing tune disable the SAIS or allow lockup in 3rd?

Edit: have dyno or efficiency results been released?

Dyno results yes, efficiency we cannot legally claim, and SAIS is a no due to EPA.
Unfortunately the EPA is not kidding around with this type of stuff

Ok thanks. Can you program the tranny to do torque converter lockup in 3rd gear?

Your ticket is asking for updates on the E-shift files, there are not any updates at the moment

I'll double check, but I'm pretty sure it's possible to lock up any gear

Are the e-shift files the only files currently available for my calibration ID? Is it possible to send some data logs to receive a tune that works with the bolt ons I have installed?

@OVTune Mat, is my custom tune being held up because you got a lot of things going at one time or because of things still in development? Either way, I’m obviously willing to wait. I get you are busy and am excited about future developments that I can take advantage of.

That’s a lot to read. Definitely too much when starting Bud Light at 11am.
