The concerns for the California wild fires rightly so over powered my original post, so I'll ask again.

Based on this thread, I believe it's suggested the OV Hand Held Unit would come with 5 independent tunes one can apply. Will more than five tunes be developed and the customer gets to select the 5 he/she is most interested in or feels he/she needs, or every hand held get the same five tunes?

A more specific scenario, if one of the 5 tunes included were for better performance for towing, but one does not have the towing package, will there be a substitute tune one will be able to select?

Additionally, when the ECU is flashed with the OV Hand Held or DIY system is the flash permanent or will the ECU revert back to Toyota factory defaults if the vehicle battery is removed and replaced?

    Thanks
    Bob

TMK 5 handheld tunes will be based on octane and towing, maybe im wrong because I have the self tune but, say, 87, 91, 93, and eco, and towing, maybe... don't quote me.

For DIY, self tune, when you receive the dongle for self tune, it does not come with a tune, nor will OVTune provide one unless you ask. Self tune is as stated, tune yourself. Usually that means tuning while on a dyno using a laptop to get feedback and results to continue to update and tune the vehicle then and there. When you flash your tune on the ecu, the new tune is installed. When and if you want to revert back to stock, OVTune provides your original factory tune and all you have to do is flash it back on the ecu. Now if you have done physical changes, i.e. Bigger injectors, cam gears, headers, you may have to uninstall them because the stock tune is not meant for them.

The handheld tune comes with a handheld device that plugs directly into obdII and it flashes the included tune(s) onto the ecu when you select whichever tune through the device.

With self tune you get a dongle that plugs into the obdII port, a micro USB to type A wire, and a vanguard license dongle (I hope that's the right name, to my understanding, that's the key that allows you the license to the software). You tune using the software on your laptop.

You do need a laptop for both but Self tune needs a laptop to work being you tune through it.

    Yes, a 320 pump installed.

Now not trying to be a b hole, but...we were told 2 weeks ago the tune would be ready and I understand there has been mitigating circumstances since, but...is this tune ready to go for the 2015 SC tacos yet?

I am continuing to work on getting the handheld ECU support updated as quickly as I can. Part of the reason there is a delay is adding new ECUs must go through the servers in Italy, and they have been taking a lot of days off this month
