The better question might be...what time is it in Italy?

OK, I can't take it anymore... what the hell is happening in Italy? OVTune is in Southern California. How does Italy play in all this? I just want to get step (1) done.... I want to save my map to the handheld. It would be awesome if the Italians would help me out with this.

Oh...the same time it's been for weeks now. Groundhog month?

I'm a little concerned that it takes this long to just get step 1 taken care of. Does the current truck tune then get sent back to ovtune then back to Italy for more wine testing? Yowsa. This could be a 2018 tune?

@OVTune is so busy sorting through all the shitposting in this thread he hasn't had as much time to work on the tune as he hoped. The constant chatter from the impatient make me want to unsubscribe but I don't want to miss a product update....might be time to start blocking fools

Have you looked at the OVT website? You do realize he is the first to even make it this far with the Tacoma ECU? He doesn't just create a blanket/one size fits all tune. Doesn't just happen over night.

Also, he appears to be closed as of yesterday through the new year. Maybe that's because he has that time set aside for the 1gr tuning or he's off in Cabo drinking margaritas and banging senoritas for a vacation, I'd say he's earned it with the workload he's gained. Just speculation at this point. There is a 2nd gen taco on a Dyno for the home screen background of his website so that's progress. Website also projects a Jan 1st 2018 release for the Toyota/Lexus/Scion tuning support.

    Thats my truck
I know you guys are still waiting for a tune, and I am still waiting for my handheld. He’s a super busy dude and usually works weekends so even though I know some of you are anxious to get your tune, lets let the man have a nice holiday break and I am sure he will come through for everyone. Patience is a virtue .

Though I'm sure ovtune is subscribed to this thread I'm guessing he is not monitoring it every minute and it's not taken him away from the tuning process. He's much smarter then that. Only those of us who thought it was going to be happening by now monitor it regularly.

Since it appears he's off till 2018, I'll not be losing any sleep over it. Such is life.

I am almost as interested in what it's going to do for mpg's as I am in adding some more power and drivability. I added a 3.5" front spoiler to the truck and picked up 1.5 mpg. If the truck picks up another 1 mpg and 15hp from the tune I'll be stoked. That should put me at approx 325rwhp at 1500' and get me around 22+mpg's at 67mph on a level hiway, going off where my truck is currently at. I'll consider that a late arriving Christmas gift and report back what my results end up at. Thx.

Lol. I'd be happy to get 18MPG. Such is life with KO2 tires and a front bumper. And people drive stupid fast on I-5.

I'll try posting some pics tomorrow. I had the idea after reviews on the chevy ZR2 showed better clearance for rock crawling but giving up some mpg without a front air dam and having a lift and bigger tires, which is where I was at.

I thought many members on here already bought the ovtune product months ago. Yet there are no reviews on the performance gains. I miss something?

Some of us have our hands on the device physically. It just does not have the ability to actually load the tune into the vehicle just yet. We were a little over anxious perhaps...

    G'day all,
This is a pretty informative thread, thanks. And I appreciate the replies I have received when asking questions. Admittedly I am not as immersed in "tuning" as most of you, but I'm learning from this thread and the 3rd gen threads.

Some of you have applied an ECU tune and there seems to be very positive comments and that very encouraging.
My question: Before one applies the latest tune received from OV, is there a description available giving the owned a general idea of what areas are being affected?

    Thanks
    Bob

taco front air dam 001.jpg SPOILER ALERT- (just had to do that)
Here is the promised pic of the front spoiler. I had a hvac guy bend me up the middle section, then I bent and added the side extensions. Both are lightweight aluminum, painted flat black. Easily removed on those times one would go rock crawling. I don't typically do that, but they are about 3.5" wide. Just far enough off the ground to catch Wiley E. Coyote in the ear!

Doesn't look bad, would cover up the bar that goes across that's starting to show pits of road rust on mine. What's the thickness of the alum? Might look into doing this.
