    Hello Tacomaworld,
not only am I new to Tacomas but also to the general concept of trucks and off-roading. I recently moved from an "anything-not-paved-is-totally-off-limits" environment to a "just-don't be a douche" one.
I previously owned a Subaru Outback 1997 - original owner and I have to admit I beat the crap out of that one. Probably took it to places where it was absolutely not meant to go... and it finally - of all things! - blew the head gasket. Sayonara, old friend...

So now I am the proud, if somewhat cautious, owner of a 2020 TRD OR manual. (I grew up in Europe and sure as hell wasn't going to go automatic for the last non-electric vehicle I will own in my lifetime). Cool side effect of manual is that I am getting WAY better mileage than the EPA suggests. Like 20 mpg short trip city. I am expert at using neutral and coasting at < 1000 RPM, he he.

Short set of questions: (Yes, I am aware that I should go to the relevant sub forums for more detail, but the intro forum might serve better for now, given that I am a total newbie to off roading)

    - I am going to be on bumpy fire roads almost daily. the big thing there are the deep, deep, water bars and sometimes I feel like I am bottoming out the stock shocks even just going 5 mph. Is this going to harm them long term or should I think about upgrading? Don't think I need better tires or anything. I am not going to rock-crawl anytime soon, if ever.

    - What would be the first thing I should consider upgrading in order to get 'life insurance' on this vehicle?

    - Is it ok to drive at 1000 RPM? Engine sounds fine, it's just that I am coming from a 4 cylinder where anything below 1500 RPM would make the engine flirt with stalling.

    - I was offered an 8 year, 100k miles extended warranty (I think it was more than that, towing, servicing etc) to the tune of $2750. I declined. Right decision?

Thanks to anybody who actually read my novel and drive safely now!
