Has anyone got Toyota to pay for a Tacoma frame replacement AFTER the recall was over? I have an 03 Tacoma that did go in for the recall in 2010, previous owner, but they just sprayed the frame. It is now undrivable at only 165,000 miles. I got a welding price of $1200.00+ and was told it will only be a band aid.

First, it's not a recall. It was an extended warranty.

That extended warranty gave you 15 years from the in-service date to get those repairs done. It sounds like you got the first requirement done, by having it inspected and treated. But unfortunately, your warranty ended in 2018, *maybe* 2019 depending on when your truck first rolled off the lot.

So no, you're not going to get Toyota to replace the frame 3 years after the warranty expired.

You have 2 options: do frame caps (i.e. safe T caps) or source a frame from a non-rust state and swap it.

Your welder is correct, the caps are just a bandaid. So depending on how much you want to keep that truck, I'd either fix it (frame swap) or ditch it and buy another truck. Either way you're going to need to focus on rust PREVENTION. There are a lot of threads on that.

I've never heard of a case where Toyota extended the warranty even further especially after the program ended for good in 2019 for all 1st gens.

Although, if they did they probably had them sign a NDA or disappeared them on Toyota Island, way out in the middle of nowhere where all the 3 gen owners with major mechanical issues seem to end up
