Tacoma Frame Warranty Canada - L32/W30 Questions

Questions about L32 / W30 Warranty enhancements for a 2013 Toyota Tacoma.

Well well well...about to hit the 12-year expiration date and went to local dealer with the response below asking about re-inspection prior to the 12 year/unlimited mileage warranty.

Initial response was I was out of warranty. Taco inspected in 2021 with CRC applied to frame and that's it. Cited the response and they will inspect in mid-February. They also mentioned that if the frame warrants inspection based on W30 criteria, frame replacement is not an option as Toyota is not manufacturing replacement frames anymore.

Has anyone had their frame fail after CRC application?

What was your fix from Toyota Canada?

If the Taco does fail the inspection, would Toyota Canada be forced to buy back the vehicle if they can't do a frame swap?

Toyota Canada Response:

We would like to take this opportunity explain that this Limited-Service Campaign L32 for the Frame Corrosion-Resistant Compound (CRC) Application will extend your frame warranty coverage to 12 years for the date of first use, with no mileage limitations. The date of first use for your March 23, 2013. Therefore, this Limited-Service Campaign L32 will expire March 23, 2025.

 

Hmm first I have heard that they dont have frames...

 

Maybe Canada doesn’t have any on hand? Seems unlikely.

There’s a foot note on Toyota parts that says oversized products might not be available for shipping. Maybe this plays in to “can’t get one”

Inspect it now with a ball peen hammer. The frame is warranties for 12 years from date of service,do not rely on your dealership to do the right thing. If you find holes bring it to their attention right away. You are getting close to the” I’m sorry but the warranty has expired “ date then it’s too bad .

 

Agreed. Inspection is booked for Feb 11th and I will be going over it before then.

Aside from looking at the main frame and cross members, does anyone have the W30 Inspection Criteria. I want to look at it the same way Toyota will be.

Take some pictures and post them and we might be able to help you get an idea of your frames condition. The boxed area of the frame around where the cats are is notorious for rusting out and the area around the rear spring hangers. God luck
