Please tell me it was OEM and that they didn't go to all that trouble to steal a hundred dollar knock off.

It was OEM. Does anyone have any ideas for locking/securing the grille? After having mine ripped off I’m reminded of the fact there are really only two screws holding it on. Maybe a wire chain through a few holes on the grille to the frame? Also- anyone know of anyone that fabs the outside grille surround cover? Theft would be more preventable if you couldn’t get a good grip on that piece to snap it in half and expose the grill.

This is why I have a dash cam running 24/7 (parking mode). At least there will be footage to give to the police.

I installed one the day after it happened along with a Compustar alarm.

I really dislike thieves. Most of us work hard for what we have.

That said Toyota bears some responsibility for this situation. They made exactly one decent looking grill option and made the list price unnecessarily high thus creating a market for both stolen property and counterfeits. They also made it comically easy to steal.

Nothing wrong with differentiating the trim levels and having an exclusive option but everyone involved in the electric shaver grille design must be blind.

    Work in progress...
We should treat the Tacoma grills like camping equipment; if you are not positive where it came from, don't buy it second hand. And if you catch someone stealing a grill off a truck, call the local authorities and monitor the situation until they show up...

People be mounting behind the grille light bars, perhaps a claymore or two behind the grill would work? Does blood come off with a clay bar? Asking for a friend...
