I've been trying to compare the pricing on both, the pro-4x vs the trd off road. I hate how they both do the packages, the only extra item I wanted was the heating steering wheel. So $2200 for the nissan and $4600 for the toyota if I'm seeing it right? Only looks like 3-5k more MSRP for the tacoma, so unless Nissan has a lot better incentives I'll probably lean tacoma. I did see a base frontier crew cab 4x4 for 32k Msrp wsa 36k, that may work for me.

I was at the Nissan dealership this morning buying a Nissan mug for a friend’s birthday, looked at the 2024 Frontier. It looks pretty good, basic but solid, Rear locker. Their price is creeping up as well.

Great looking truck...just dated tech when it rolled out.

Looks great. What was the price of that truck? Are those Toyo AT3s the stock tire or dealer add ons?

Agreed. If you don't use a truck bed that often, you can get a very good trailer for occasional use for $1000-1500 depending on what capabilities you need. Just a suggestion, do not buy one from farm stores like TSC, Bomgaars, Big R, etc. if you can help it. Way overpriced for what you get. If you can find a local place that builds trailers as a business, you will be way ahead on $$, features, payload, components used and quality.

OP did you make this same post on the frontier forums? Curious what they think haha

IMO aftermarket support, this forum, reliability and resale make it no question I'd be choosing a taco

The tires are AT3 Toyos, I didn’t look at the price but I’m sure it’s a typical dealership with dumb pricing for a basic lift and tire upgrade. But buy it stock and do your own mods would be the way to go

It’s dated but basic, which is good. I thought the styling interior , exterior was pretty good. A few extras, soft open tailgate, rear power points, diff lock.
Pretty hard to screw up a V6 engine

    Reliable? Pfft......

On the thread about TFL's new SR5 front diff failure, we've got the usual "other trucks break because they aren't as good as a Toyota" and then "when a Toyota breaks, it's a design feature, like a fuse"

Don't get me wrong, I do believe in Toyota reliability. But, I think bashing on non-Toyota trucks is a bit much. My 2007 Titan has actually been more reliable than our 2020 Corolla HB. That's real world experience, not assumptions.

We did buy a new Titan Pro-4x, and TBH, being a post-pandemic vehicle, I do worry it might not be as good as my 2007. Just like the issues Toyota is dealing with too: increased power, complexity and tech makes "old school" reliability less likely.

As for aftermarket support, no doubt. Toyota all day. But, I find most people just waste money on their brocomas. RTT all year long killing mpgs for example.

And resale value you're definitely right about, however, you pay more to get the higher resale value. Not sure how ahead you get doing that. And, for those looking for a good off-lease or slightly used truck, that low resale value is beneficial to us cheap mo-fo's.

Does that have the dealership installed lift?

Here at end of 2023, brand new Frontier Pro-4x were going between high $38k to low $41k, advertised. Plus, at that time, Nissan was offering 0% for 60.

Tough to beat if the truck could meet your needs.

I was trying to decide on the green vs blue on the configurator and that may have done it for me, looks great. Similar to a 12 titan pro-x I had.

They did a 2 inch coil lift in the front, no spacers, which I thought was good, but not sure what shocks, prob 5100s.
Took a look and it’s Bilstein shocks, but for their price you could save a lot and just install your own lift.

That blue definitely looks awesome in person, can’t go wrong with that.

My cousin bought a pro-x last fall in that nice blue color. It is a really nice truck, and he loves it so far. Had I not already had my sport, I would have seriously considered getting one.

You could get the 24 Pro 4X loaded model for $58k Cdn ($42k usd) plus tax and then mod it. I’d try to get it with no dealer add ons.
It does come with a Nissan 5 year 100k km (60k mile) power train warranty which is better than some 3 year powertrain coverages offered by others.
I’m just trying to spend other people’s money haha, I’ll be driving my truck till it dies or frame snaps in half!

    39k for a pro4x...

That's crazy. 39k gets you nothing even close in Toyotaland.

You can find them less than that too, Auto trader shows a grey one at 37,820 if I HAD to buy a new mid size truck right now, it would definitely be on my radar, its serviceable enough and reliable enough at a price I can actually stand to pay.

As a base OR owner, a base pro4x is right up my alley. Heck I can get a modestly optioned pro4x for the price of an SR 4x4 lol.

Also, since the Frontier now has a smaller turning radius than the new Taco, it's more nimble too.
