32 HWY, 24 combined. 2009 4 cylinder 2 wd access cab. To get 32 I must keep the rpm under 2000, keep tires at 37 psi, and maintain a clean air filter.

I need to actually calculate my mpg, seems like I'm getting at best 13 or 14 in the city...but then again I run 33's on my truck.

I have been getting 18 mpg whether I drive like a grandma or normal. Fresh oil, new spark plugs and a decently clean air filter... wish I could figure out how to get closer to 20 mpg...

I used to get around 16, but since I got my gauge that prinits instant mpgs I changed my driving habits. After about 5 fill-ups, Im averaging around 20 mpg. LOL, at this rate it will take another 15 fillups before I break even on the gauge.

    Looking!
We just drive it, although not too crazy. Averages around 22 usually. Got 26mpg coming home from Dothan a few weeks ago. That felt good.

Doing some math here, this is what i found...
If you ride an average of 15,000 miles per year
If you only get 16 mpg, gas at $2.80c, than it will cost you $2,625 per year in gas.
But if you can improve it to:
20mpg, gas at $2.80c, you will spent $2,1000 per year in gas.
    So...
It means that If you spend $500 per year in "Mods" to improve gas milage, as long as you can improve it by 4 mpg average you are ok (brake even), but if you spend more $$$ in Engine mods and bed cover, etc.
It may take you around 3 years +, just to brake even from what you spent vs what you will save in gas...
Is it worth it????? No sure any more, what do you think???
    Cheers
    David

A lot of variables... Engine size (me the 4.0 V-6), Vehicle size (me a double cab, 2nd gen.), driveline weight/ drag (me 4WD), GASOLINE TYPE (me California USA where the hippies have junk added to what God provided us and thus less pure gasoline requiring more gallons for mileage).

I regulary get 15.5-16.5 when I am mostly driving in town (stop and goes).
I regularly get 16.5-17.5 when there is more highway than city driving.
I have gotten 18-19.2 when it is nearly all highway driving, and that is with regular speeds of 60-70 MPH... maybe a bit more.

Note the Fuelly.com link on my signature... Everyone subscribed to this thread should use it... free and fun.

The only way to get accurate fuel mileage calculations is to do the math at the pump, several tanks in a row. Figuring your mileage on just one tank can be inaccurate. Maybe one time you are able to get more gas in the tank because of the way the truck is sitting. This can make a difference but it will balance out on the next tank.

It has been my experience that people who would not lie about anything else will lie about two things: Their sex life and their gas mileage!

So true. Discount all the claims that are unrealistic whether they are about sex life or MPG.

Throttle body spacer, K&N intake, Leer 700 tonneau cover, Dynomax catback, de-badged, bilstein shocks, airlift air bags, procomp at's 285/75/16 on stock rims with spidertrac spacers.
I have been getting about 21-23 miles per gallon. I changed my intake to a K&N, installed a Dynomax cat back and a bed cover. So it may be my imagination, but it works for me.

2010 DCLB V6. With first fillup 17.5, 2nd fillup 19.5. The funny thing is first tank had alot more hiway miles than the 2nd. The 2nd tank had about 50 miles of hiway driving.
I am always trying to keep revs under 2k rpm.
