I've got 18K on my 08 V6 4WD and after break-in I saw about 1.5 miles extra per gallon to bump over the 20mpg mark. Now after the wheels/tires I'm lucky to see 17.5. That's running 86/87 octane all the time.

I used to pull 24 out of my 99 prerunner with the 3rz with an auto. Just a matter of keeping my foot out of it. Good Luck

Won't there be a difference in MPG between 4WD and 2WD or Prerunners?

My 2008 2.7L PreRunner Access Cab 5spd M/T is averaging about 18.5 mpg city. I can manage to get 20.5-21.5 out of it on the highway if i keep it to about 65 mph. Anymore speed and the mileage drops off quickly. I figure this is due to the high (4.10) rear end ratio. The worst I have got from it is 17 mpg in the city, driving like a bat out of hell, and encountering lots of stop and go traffic.

NOTE: The truck came with 245/75-R16 street tires and now has 265/70-R16 10 ply rated tires (substantially larger and much heavier)
All Figures are with the 265/70-R16 tires.

2008 2.7 4x4 Access Cab. I average 20 mpg in mixed driving. I haven't taken it on a long drive to figure Hwy mileage, but I would figure 22-24.

2009 access cab, v-6 6-speed, 4x4 offroad package, 10% ethanol here in AR. Just broke 1000 miles last weekend while I was home. Consistent 15 mpg in town, last tank was almost 18 (about 60-70% highway/freeway). I drive it like I stole it, so those numbers seem good to me.:D

I was pleasantly surprised at how well it handles in the twisties for a 4x4. Tries to wag it's tail a bit in the fast transitions and switchbacks on the pig trail, but it ain't exactly a sports car. All the beeping and flashing lights suck when you're TRYING to slide it sideways around the corners (closed course ). Way more fun with some of those electronic killjoys disabled.

My biggest problem is remembering to shove the clutch pedal into the floorboard when shifting. (previous personal vehicle was a '86 s-10 5-speed with blown out synchronizers and daily driver is a 10-speed fuller non-synchronized trans) I may have to adjust the pedal a bit to get the disengagement point off the floor just a little.

I was getting better mileage in the summer but now that it is winter and it is constantly -10 degrees out my mileage has suffered.

Yea, me too. Mileage has gone down 2 to 3 MPG's since summer time. I think that's due to the type of fuel they make during the winter time. At least that's what they say anyways......
