    Hello!
I’m new on the forum, hope this post is the kind of info you like to see!
Here are some pictures of a swap we just achieve!!
Have not seen any on the site so it may be helpful to some of the members that look up to make one of this!!

    Power is awesome!!
The truck is a 2001 Tacoma 4x4, originally had a 5vze on Auto tranny.
    No body lift added.
    No steering components relocation
All cluster and markers working and adapted OD button to get all gears to work.
    1.5 inch front diff drop
    Custom oilpan swap.

Feel free to ask any details if you need any advice to make this swap possible on your truck

Excellent work. Please elaborate on how you did the electrical on it. Did you merge the Tacoma body harnesses?

It was a 6 day work for a fully equipped shop. It can be done at home depending on how many tools you hace available. The hardest part was oilpan mods as it required some fabrication.
Clearence with front diff and power steering rack were the 2 main issues as the engine had to be positioned as low as possible to avoid a body lift… but we managed to squeeze the 4.0, you know… a bit of cutting here and there merged with a custom designed oilpan.

yes we merged the 2 harneses…. Basically we took the engine harness together with the imobilizer and OBD port from the donor and replaced the original engine harness on the 2001 Taco. The cluster, dash, AC, airbags, starter and all the cabin wiring remained as the original 2001. Only re-pinned temperature, rpm and check indicator. Changed the OBD port as te 4.0 have more wiring and info that can be pulled.

we decided to keep the original 2001 key so we hide the imobilizer antenna with a donor key taped together inside the dash.

also the auto start from the 4.0 have not been jet connected, the crank is being done by the original 2001 key. We can do it so you dont have to keep the key in the cranking position to start the engine… just a momentary turn will start the cranking and automatically stops when engine is on.

That's a nice conversion, how much more power have you noticed vs a 3.4L? Toying w idea in going this way or perhaps diesel? IDK?
