You took a hard hit, but I would be shocked if that is "totaled" Curious how this works out for you OP. Best of luck

I'd get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th opinion. Your busted tail light looks like it's made of styrofoam.

And it looks like the impact was taken above your frame. From that one picture I see, it doesn't look totaled to me.

The entire bed pushed into the cab. You can’t see that from the picture, but the bed was sitting crooked, and digging into the right side of the cab. Also, some parts were hanging down under the bed. We’ll see but I’ll update after I get the new quote!

I'm with @5nahalf in that you may need a new tailgate, side, bed and some fixin' to the back of the cab.

If it’s repairable then make sure to lean on the adjuster for plenty of blend time on the paint. Don’t want to be able to spot the damaged area very easily

Most companies use a formula for this so can demonstrate how they arrive at the DOV figure.

Wait until they've done the full inspection/evaluation and you have the official estimate. It's not the body shop that will determine if it's a total loss or not. They just fix the stuff. If your insurance company decides it's too expensive to fix, they'll cut you a check for the value of the truck.

But... as it stands now, they're not going to total a $30k truck for $7k in repairs, no matter how bummed about it you are... I feel pretty confident in that.

(edit: full disclosure... my 2016 has been rear-ended twice. I feel your pain.)

Looks like you got hit high. The bed is held on by about 6 bolts and is made of fiber glass. So the frame could make it through the crash undamaged with the bed getting pushed into the cab.

Sorry to hear about your accident. That place looks like its along RTE 278 maybe? I have a lady friend that lives in Bluffton and it looks familiar.

Like the others have said wait for a call from the bodyshop with an updated price figure. If the shop is reputable they will guarantee all their work for a year, so if you have a problem in that time frame you would bring the truck back to the shop and have them fix it.

    Good luck!

Oh totally. The $6680 is just for the cosmetic damage. They haven’t done the quote for the internal damage. I’m hoping that the frame is just fine. If that’s the case then it’s nbd and I’m happy for them to fix it. I’m not trying to speculate as to what they’ll find, just more trying to be ready to understand what my options are if they total it OR if they fix it. The adjuster seemed positive that there was more damage than meets the eye, so I think that’s what surprised me.

One of the first things I did was replace the incandesce bulbs in the middle stop light with brighter LED’s.

Thank you! Close! I’m in Mt Pleasant in this picture. I got hit near there and decided I needed a taco and a cupcake immediately and this shopping center had both!
