I'd blame mine on installation method, my garage isn't very tall so I dropped the truck back down when reattaching the leafs. The shackle stuck down when we put it back under load and I couldn't get all the way out of the garage but backing up it dropped back to where it belonged. I went on a 6000 mile road trip shortly after install, wheeling in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah, multiple times the truck was fully flexed and the issue never showed itself that I noticed. I'd say it's only an issue during install and a quick brake check clears it up.

I still haven’t run the truck with the leafs assembled to know if this will be an issue. I noticed the bind with a stripped pack. The only sure solution I can think of is to limit how far below horizontal that the shackle is capable of moving.

You have already compensated for longer leaf packs with the mounting position. I’d also be curious if this is an issue with longer shackles.

My stock shackle at full droop.

I think a longer shackle like the 4.5" option would prevent the shackle from getting to horizontal for long leaf packs, but may limit gains in droop.
For Dakars, it would probably still lock only worse because the main leaf would be bent into more of an arch.

So best way is probably to come up with a way to limit the shackle from getting past horizontal.

I’d be fine with losing an inch of down travel if it meant not damaging my hangers and shackles.

Ehh that tab looks like it's been bent upwards. The tab on both of my hangers are at a 45-55 degree angle. Yours is straight up towards the sky. I don't know if that's one of the earliest versions (the pictures in the first post suggest they are not) but that could be why you're binding at droop.

It is, only on one side from either the shackle pushing it up or the leaf contacting it. The other side is at a proper angle.

Pics of updated 3.6" shackles, the changes are aimed at fitting the challenging OME Dakars hopefully without rubbing the leaves.
Not sure if the too long Alcans will fit without rubbing, might need to jump up to 4.5" shackles (Alcans are too long for stock hangers and shackles).

    Hello.... this peaks my interest...

Also... I really need to cut this damn tab off and everything... because this was a pain in the but to try and trail fix to be able to flex the truck enough to take a hammer and pop it back up. I have until Mid September to get it done as that is the next time I will be going offroad anyways...

And yes, on the second picture those are scratches on the bottom of the hammer from the leafs all the way on the bottom of the hanger... it finally caught enough to where it wouldn't be doing that anymore and stayed in this position until I could flex the truck out enough to get it resolved.

Sorry the tab sucks, Its about 30 mins or less with a right angle grinder, to deburr and paint

(For any new readers, the tab has been removed from current and future production)

Yep, I need to remove the rear tires and do some stuff so will be doing that at the same time.

Not to sure if this is appropriate here, but what is the difference between these and the BAMF hangers? Do these allow the more more flex somehow?

The Hammer hangers are designed to increase droop over stock hanger by moving the shackle pivot rearward to allow the shackle to drop out or get horizontal. This lessens the bind on the springs as well as providing a vertical shackle at ride height improving ride quality (usually the shackle is rotated rearward with many aftermarket springs).

If you have a shock relocation, you might need to add limit straps. Limit straps cost $100 or less and are the preferred way to limit axle travel, I like Kartek limit parts.

Limit straps are best on the back side of the axle with leaf springs. Behind axle will help combat axle wrap from locking the shackle down. They are not expensive, about $30/strap.

Kartek has some nice options, even allowing adjusting

Thank you, that was the word (droop) I was looking for. With the increase in droop, are there any negative effects to the up travel? Im on Dakars, would this make the leafs go into a more negative arch? Sorry, this is all kind of confusing to me

Depending on the bump stops you run, with stock length shackles the leaf will go a bit more negative arch, by 1/2", than stock hangers. Most droop gain is due to the shackle being allowed to rotate down.
