Got my crossbar back from powder and installed today. Makes a noticeable difference in ride quality, improving even more than just the HH. Definitely recommend buying one if you don't have the means to make one yourself.

Cut off wheel, grinder, air hammmer and a pair of vice grips and in 5 hours the factory was off and the new hammer hangers on. Not sure if that is a record or not but I was way more nervous than what it turned out to take. Factory shackle bushing was seized so took the whole thing off as one. Ground the head off from the outside, used the air hammer and got the old shackle off. Then ground down the rivet again using the vice grips to hold the top crossbar down, then hit them with the air hammer again and out they popped. Primer, paint and bolt on. Will go take it out for a test drive today. Going to have to modify the exhaust AGAIN to build the crossbar. Might have to loose the resinator. I think I might have one of the most modified expensive bolt on exhausts for a taco you can get. Lol

For those with AllPro leaf springs, Energy bushings (8.2116G) fit in the AllPro leafs and eliminate the 1/8" narrower than stock issue. I had spacers initially when I did the install years ago and I'd recommend switching over to Energy bushings rather than using spacers.

During the install, I discovered the source of all my rear suspension binding. I too had a thud and just generally poor flex with the leafs. The AllPro sleeves are extremely weak and bend when torquing down the bolts. As you can see, they are not a solid bushing and are simply a rolled piece of steel. The Energy bushings and sleeves are far superior to the AllPro ones.

The leafs are still 1/8" more narrow than they should be, but I have not had any issues with the leafs sliding on the bushings side to side. Note: I did NOT lube the outside of the bushing before pressing them in to the leafs to prevent side to side movement. I only lubed the parts that move (sleeve, inside of bushing and outside faces of bushing). This is contrary to what Energy recommends, but I think is the right thing to do.

I also ended up ordering new stock shackles and installed grease zerk fittings in each with the bushings that come with the kit.

The difference after the HH install is night and day. The best way I could describe it is that the truck feels more planted now and it is a joy to drive. The rear end glides over bumps and everything is buttery smooth.

Thanks Eric for making an excellent product! Looking forward to eventually taking the leap to longer shocks to really get the most out of the HH.

Droop is currently limited by shocks, brake lines (currently 24", need 26+"), e-brake cable bracket. I need to figure out my bump travel and to replace the OEM bumps for proper bump stops.

Thanks for the review, and posting evidence of the AllPro disaster. I still don't understand how the bushing sleeves get mashed like that. Can you measure the length of the one that is still nearly straight?

I'll have to check my allpros but I've never had those issues with mine. Guess I'll have to get under mine and check. Been running allpros for a year and half now with HH for a about a year. Only issue I had was running stock length shackle with stock bushing, the shackle wouldn't rotate as much and allow for droop. Once I replaced with Archive bushing it rotated.

What about using AllPro Expo leafs with these hangers? any feedback on the pairing of your hangers with those? (SOA configuration.) Use stock or Hammer shackles? What would be the difference between the stock and aftermarket shackles?

That's what I'm running with stock length. Stock vs aftermarket shackle differemce is length and bushings. But Archive sells the bushing to replace the stock ones. I like my setup. I didn't see a need to buy aftermarket shackle unless you dont have the tools to replace the bushing.

Ok, so stock bushing needs to come out of the stock shackle. I'm running extended length shocks (2" non resi Walker Evans that AllPro used to sell with these springs) in stock mounting points for the extra 3" lift from the Expos, and have parts on the way to rebuild those shocks. I was thinking doing the hangers next, then maybe upgrade the shock mounting to allow for new 12" travel shocks to take advantage of the increased droop travel.

For stock mounting the best shock would be the bilstien b110s. They are a pretty long shock. Not sure the specs on your Walker Evan's but I would consider those if you dont want to do the work involved with running a 12 or longer travel shock.
