I posted about my Tacoma hard starting intermittently (like everyone else) before, but never managed to get it on video. I went to start my 2012 DCLB today, nothing special it was sitting for 9 hours in the sun, around 4 Celsius. Went to start and it just turned over and over and I stopped to grab my iPhone. This is the second attempt at starting, notice the smoke coming out of the muffler when I look out the window. You may have to turn the volume up.

My 11 does this sometimes, not sure what it would be related to. I've used probably 50 different gas stations and it has done this since day 1.

I've stopped counting how many times my 2010 has done it...I gotten a few weird looks from a co-worker whom I park nearby at work when it happens....he's happy with his 2005 GMC needless to say...

My 2013 has done this twice since I've owned it. First time was on a colder night in Atlanta, the 2nd time was here in FL when it was 80* out. So I don't think it is temp related.

First time just cranked for 5 seconds or so. Didn't even attempt to "catch".

Off topic here, but did the 2012's get a upgraded V10 or something? My speedo only goes up to 120, yet the '12 looks to go to 200 mph?

My 13 did it when I first got it, I attributed it to cranking immediately as I first turned the key. I have never had an issue after just giving it a few seconds after turning the key on before I crank the motor over. Think it has to do with priming the fuel system(running the pump) before cranking the motor. sometimes you have to be patient in life....

Nah, it's totally random. As such, it's hard to tell if such a procedure would make any difference.

If you guys that have this issue put your foot down on the gas pedal while cranking does it start right up then? Mine did that back in 2007... took it in for a intermittent no-start condition tsb with 50 miles on the truck and it's started up fine ever since.
