It's less Tacoma and more mod
That's a miserable bit of work, I've gotten pretty good at using my Flipper for good to find skimmers and trackers now though. Just sucks we have to think about this type of shit.

OP, If a taco also parks there, maybe this was a crime of passion. You were just the wrong target.

Now are you sure that you didn't piss off somebody's girlfriend/boyfriend . That's some pretty extreme acts right there cutting the battery cables and ground wires. I'd be looking to see who parks in that space after you move the truck. And make sure that same vehicle parks there for a couple of days. Then I'd plan to have a face to face with them. Be polite, and see what their reaction is when asked about what happened to your truck. Or you could just write this off as just one of those bullshit things that happen and just carry on with life.

It's not that big a deal. Just get new cables from your FLAPS. That cable coming out of the box is usually bolted inside and you can just remove it and have someone make you a new one. Just don't use residential wire. Use a high strand count automotive wire of the same or larger size. The positive will be a little trickier than the negative which just ends at either your block or the frame. The positive probably ends at your alternator.

I wouldn't even mess with the harness. Just find where they terminate and measure. Get the length you need with the ends you need and bolt them on. Then zipstrip them to the harness or at least away from anything hot or that will rub through them.

Best thing to do is not retaliate, but be ready to get evidence the next time they do something which I'm betting is never. They did what they came to do. Did you say you lived at apartments? Might be worth asking around and seeing if other people had problems. Sometimes kids get bored. God knows I did some shitty things when I was a bored teenager. I would be looking for blood if someone touched my rig, even though I know nothing good would come from it.

But if he doesn't file with the insurance co and finds hidden/further attempts at possible theft of (I'm gonna have to say the Taco and not the battery) the ins co might look at the OP sideways about why he DIDN'T report. Just throwing that out there

Report the vandalism to your insurance company immediately. Can't hurt. The damage should be covered under Comprehensive (unless you don't have any Comprehensive coverage).

Don’t know why or who would do that. But the damage is done. I’d do the following, submit a claim to your insurance. It’s covered under comprehensive, your insurance rates will not go up. Since you are not comfortable repairing it , get it towed to a shop who can repair it. Consider a hood lock of some kind. You are kind of skimpy with information. How long have you lived there? Are you aware of any other vandalism there? Is it a low crime area or not.
I would report it to police for many reasons I won’t go in to now.
If the area you live in is kind of not that great I’d consider moving.
No matter who parks there you’ll never know who did the damage. And even if you think you know there ain’t nothing you can do. Start something with a neighbor and it may escalate to a level you won’t like (unless you are a bad ass hombre)

OP, as others have said that’s a pretty easy fix just pick up some OEM cables. If you are not good at wrenching ask around I’m sure you have a friend or coworker that will be willing to hep you out.
