So I just bought a 2010 TRD Sport Tacoma and from what I have gathered the TRD trucks have smoked headlights. Do all of them have smoked headlights, or was it just an option? Here is a photo of my truck, they don't look smoked to me.

Also if anyone has pictures of aftermarket smoked headlights (ebay lights) that would be great too. I'm doing an HID retrofit and playing around with designs (smoked lens, clear DRL lens)

Smoked came out starting in 2010 on trd pkgs. I would stay away from ebay lights because most have poor light output. I had a set of Revotec black headlights from ebay and they had hot spots and dim lighting. I'm going back to stock. I'm gonna get the bhlm mod done. Which stands for blacked out headlight modification.

I think the 09-11 model years they were a part of the TRD packgages. I am not sure what they did in 2012. I just had a set installed, and they look better IMO. Not Blacked out, but they look great with my color.

Looks like you have a MGM truck (from what your profile icon shows). Can you post a picture of the smoked lights on your truck?

they're smoked. The "smoked" part of the headlight is like the surrounding area of the headlight inside the lens. There's not that much but enough for toyota to claim they're smoked. Look at them from an angle and you'll see what i mean.

I hope they work for you too. I have no idea what "recycled" headlights truly means. At least if they're OEM you shouldn't have problems with light pattern and moisture intrusion. I wonder of they buff the lenses out?

My 13 Trd sport did not come with "smoked" headlights. However I did just replace them with the oem smoked headlights...there isnt much of a difference really. If you swapped them without telling anybody I doubt it would even be noticed

Ok, I'll bite. What manufacturer? You can't tell cheap OEM knock offs from the real deal in pictures.

If they are indeed OEM, then the optics will be as good as it gets. (Aftermarket housings have pretty horrible optics.) The only thing I'd watch out for on a "refurbished" housing is if they buffed out the lenses to remove any oxidation. If they did - any you won't know it - all of the UV protection is now gone. I'd clear coat them right away as a precaution.
