Basically, yes....... but there is a caveat.

If the tire/wheel combo is heavier than what you have now, then you will get worse mileage. It might only be a tiny bit worse, but it'll be worse.

If you currently have a TRD Sport and you're looking at getting a 2.7l SR or SR5, then the answer is "no".

    Different engines, different suspensions.

Depends on the Tire to Rim ratio, I think as stated. Not going to gain any height if you're running lower profile tires on a 17" wheel vs. larger tire on a 16" wheel. Going to have to do a larger tire on 17" or as "tall" of a tire. Think TRD Pro 17" wheels have the larger tire combo for more height.

What!? Are you referring to the aspect ratio of the tire?

I'm assuming same overall diameter, same weight, his current mpgs should stay the same. If the overall diameter or weight changes, his current mpgs will change.

From factory the 16" and 17" wheels have the same overall diameter when you include the tires.

No kidding. You should read the thread about bypassing the rev limiter.

My response had nothing to do with mpg. I was referring to "and driving experience", which is why I changed the text to bold.

A 4cyl SR with not provide the same driving experience as a V6 Sport.

I got to drive a v6 Tacoma in auto finally (doesn't matter the submodel) and the 4 has more kick in the pants.

I want a LOWER seat height - Drop the 75 ratio tires for some 65s - but the local tire dealers are NOT happy with that idea... I don't want steps, but my wife has a new knee. Doesn't want to use a folding step either.
