    Seems ya have to gradually coax it to 3rd. Then you can 'punch it'.
    ECT helps those scenarios, along with starting hills.
    I've been using a Pedal Commander around a year. In combination with proper use of ECT....
    I'm good with it.....maybe just use to it.
