I'm not sure if this is more of a problem or question. My Tacoma's horn doesn't blow when I lock my doors. Is this normal? It works when I blow it from inside the cab, but doesn't sound when I lock the doors.

No it is not only the VIP systems. I have a plain SR5 Prerunner and it chirps once for locked and twice for unlocked. It can be turned on or off in the ECM. See my link above.

Yeah I looked at the link, so you use the remote key fob to change between the on and off setting? Does it matter between the lock and unlock button?

    From the Link:

1.) Step one: Open the drivers door and insert the key into the ignition.

2.) Step two: Remove the key from the ignition and, within 5 seconds, reinsert the key back into the ignition and switch to the on position.

3.) Step three: After 10 seconds, the system enters the answer-back mode.

4.) Step four: Within 10 seconds of the answer-back beep the switching mode is started, press the remote twice and the system will turn off or on based upon which the system is set. ( if it was off it will turn on, if it was on it will turn off ).

Yeah I understand all of the steps until the "press the remote twice". Which button do I press twice on the remote? Both of the buttons or just the lock/unlock?

Mine doesn't even do that. It just flashes the lights with no sound whatsoever.

No sounds when locking or unlocking. Just the lights and the door clicking sound. If it was a teenager, they took excellent care of it!

Haha I suppose so. I'll have to check everything tomorrow when I can see what I'm doing. I bet they turned it off, but we will find out soon enough.

Pretty sure you can press either the Lock or Unlock button twice. Not both.

I tried to see if the alert was disabled, but nothing happened when I clicked the button twice.

100% disables the chirps...and horn signal if you double hit the lock. LOVE it being quiet and did it with a dress shirt and tie on. Easiest mod there is. Can be reversed following same directions I believe

Hell yeah, love that it can be disabled. The chrip/beep F that noise. I come home late sometimes and the last thing I want is to have my neighbors hear my Taco chirp beep honk etc. Lame.
