Does anyone here remember this discussion in 2010?

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...oyota-tacoma-2012-hybrid-announced-today.html

Then the members were wondering if the press release they found about a possible Tacoma Hybrid is possible or no. The topic was active and generated 3 pages of discussion.

Well today, the Hybrid is possible and it will likely be 31 MPG.

    http://www.torquenews.com/1083/thoughts-31-mpg-2016-toyota-tacoma-hybrid-4wd-pickup

    The question is

Would 31 MPG move you to consider a hybrid Toyota Tacoma?

Really depends on cost. I'm not for or against hybrids. For my situation and where I think fuel prices will be for the next 5 to 10 years, they don't currently make sense.

I would need more than a 4 banger.

"Imagine how much of a fuel miser the Tacoma would be if it adopted the 4-cylinder hybrid drivetrain of the “300h” Lexus vehicles."

depends on power figures and how it would drive.

really they just need to stick the 2GR-FSE in the tacoma and call it a day.... 3.6L v6 305hp and probably around 25-28mpg i would be happy with that.

At about 130K when the batteries start to go breast up and because it is a Tacoma and capable of going well over that mileage, the cost of new batteries will make up in $$$ for all that saved in gas.

    Go natural gas if anything.

Personally, I'd like to see a CNG/gasoline hybrid. CNG can be had for less that $2/gal.

Well that makes more sense but for comparison , a new replacement Prius battery pack can be had for $3500-4000 , and there are now companies that supply refurbished battery packs for under $1000 , as more vehicles use hybrid batteries , look for the price of new to fall and the availability of refurbished to spread

Toyota Prius nickel hydride batteries are known to go over 200k miles without incident. The Toyota hybrid drive trains are found to be very reliable. With 15 years of hybrid experience, I would be very comfortable with a Toyota hybrid truck.
I also own a 2010 Prius and very familiar with Toyota hybrid technology.

I hate how hybrids drive... From the Chevy ones to Prius's they are all boring as hell :(
