I know that a lot of people have said that cold air intakes are awesome and a lot have said that they don't work, for all the people who think that they work is there a specific one intake that it's California legal and that they know that it really works?

nothing is California legal.... just either move, or buy one, and put it back stock for smog.

The TRD-branded intakes along with their original versions from AFe and AEM come with CARB exemption stickers. They both work if you happen to have the TRD supercharger as well. The stock engine just doesn't draw enough air for the stock intake to be restrictive.

The URD one requires various shields and socks to keep water out. :p

I prefer the AFe one, same throaty growl.

K&N and Volant have the California legal and have the sticker with the serial#s that makes it California legal and can pass on smog day.

I have always used them on my Chevy Silverado trucks and I could feel the power and liked the way it sounds.

Now that I have a 2011 Tacoma pre runner I want to add some power and want to hear the roar but I want to put one only if there is one that really works and that its legal.

I am looking to install a cold air intake on my 2011 Tacoma I had installed the K&N intake for this truck but took it off cause I didn't feel no power increase at all and wasn't noise enough. If someone knows if a certain intake I can install that gives good horse power and that sounds loud but that it's also smog legal,if anybody has any suggestions I really appreciate it,thanks.
