Ok, I want to start out by saying that I'm a new member, and I have only been here since June 7th of this year. When I purchased my 2012 Tacoma TSS 4X4 in June 2016 with under 40,000 miles on her from a friend of mine, I was as happy as a pig in mud !!!!! It's a truck that I always admired, and wanted. To be honest, it was my dream truck. I had my Tacoma for only 5 weeks, and 1 day when I did the most stupidest thing, and that was not keeping my eyes on the road !!!!! I had something drop on the floorboard at my feet, and started digging for it instead of just pulling over to deal with it.
When I looked down I went left of center, and hit a semi tractor trailer. I was able to keep from hitting the truck itself, but hit his front trailers front wheel, and 3 more along with it. I totaled out my Tacoma, but I was still alive !!!!!!! Because of all the safety features the Tacoma had on her. I'm sure that if I was driving my 2008 Nissan at the time. I may be seriously injured, or dead.
I was so impressed with the airbags system which I contributed from not getting seriously hurt !!! The the only way I can put it is like being wrapped up in bubble wrap. I was determined to get another Tacoma after my accident. When looking for a new Tacoma, I found a 2014 Tacoma 4X4 with 24,500 miles on her. While I do miss my first Tacoma a lot, I like this one just as much. I hated going thru my ordeal that almost ended my life, but I have to admit that the Tacoma is one TUFF TRUCK !!!!!!!
PS. My advice to everyone is to keep your eyes glued to the road, because any distractions can turn your world upside down in a blink of a eye.
    STAY SAFE !!!!

I appreciate the replys on my misfortune. I posted this for 2 reasons. 1, for how well built I believe the Tacoma is, and 2nd, on paying attention to the road. Everyone gets destracted while driving. Wether it's your phone being the #1 cause of accidents, to whatever. If it's that important to mess with while driving, just pull over, and deal with it. It's not worth your life, or the lives of others. I was very lucky that there were no loss of life, but I have to admit that it opened my eyes on being more aware of what's in front of me. I hope this message on what happened to me, can prevent one of you guys from doing something like I did. Well then it will be worth my efforts of spreading the gospel of safe driving !!!!!

I'm still new at this forum stuff, so I'm trying to learn how to post pictures. I usually do everything off my iPhone. The avatar picture is my new truck tho. I will send some when I can.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
On my way home tonight I saw a small red Chevy something and thought "Ya no." thinking that'd get the pancake treatment pretty quick. Thank God you're alive, Man!

Thank you for sharing your story. Glad you're ok! It nice to know how tuff our Tacoma's are. Welcome to the forum. Be careful on here, this forum is responsible for sucking 1500 bucks from my wallet! Once you get the mod bug, it's hard to shake it! :)
