LOL... except that at 120,000 miles mine still drives like it was new when many of the competition would be on the scrap heap. No leaks, no rattles, no engine misses, no body rust. If not for the frame rust issue it might have been a forever vehicle.

OP is just whining for the sake of whining. Idk how you can complain about the strength of the composite bed, which I've hauled 800+ lb lathes and milling machines in without issue, or complain about a lack of tailgate lock which would be completely useless for the vast majority of Tacoma owners, but don't mention the tailgate itself that folds up like origami if you put a little weight in the center of it.

Yup. I LOVE the composite bed. And it is easy to add a tailgate lock... electric Dyno Lock on mine that along with hard retract tonneau cover makes for secure storage. I don't love the flimsy tailgate but I have never needed to test it.

Another internet genius. OP, you do know that where steel is sourced from has almost nothing to do with how durable it is right? The finish applied to the steel has almost everything to do with how corrosion resistant it is. Were Tacoma frames painted in China? (Hint: Nope.)

If you think ranting about how poorly designed and manufactured a particular vehicle is on a forum dedicated to that particular vehicle is going to get you anywhere, I have bad news for you. You'll have much better luck ranting on a forum dedicated to other vehicles. Of course, if you participate in one of those other forums, you may find that those vehicles also have their fair share of design and manufacturing problems.

Yes, it is (sadly) true that Tacomas are not a perfect truck. That's why they've been (by far) the best-selling medium sized truck for so long and the vast majority of Tacoma owners would buy another one no questions asked.

OP, when you buy your next truck from some other manufacturer, please get back to us and tell us how absolutely everything was perfectly designed and manufactured, and nothing ever goes wrong with it. We'll be patiently waiting for your response.

I have a 2020 CX5 GT. So far it’s been a great vehicle, but so has my Tacoma. I do agree with some of the OP’s points, but every truck out there has some issues. In over seven years and 70k miles, my Tacoma has been back to the dealer once for a radio update. My 2004 Silverado had 13 warranty repairs in the first 3 years. I’ll stick with Toyota trucks for now. JMO.

You sound like a Chevy Silverado guy...All trucks have some flaws and yes frame issue sucks but it is still superior too many other trucks out there..I am lucky my frame is okay so far...

Sure friend, squawk about whatever makes you (un)happy...

But specifically #5, the plastic gas tank. If you were old enough to have grown up with steel gas tanks in a snow state you would have an appreciation for trouble free plastic tanks.

Go buy an armor plate skid plate if you want.

Moon[/QUOTEI am near 70 years old and have had many trucks over the years and really like my 2015 Tacoma as it had exceeded my expectations. But I looked at the "facts" as you think you know them and very happy it has rear drum brakes, fibre reinforced box, plastic fuel tank and I knew my frame had to be oil sprayed for winter as like any other truck made which are prone to rust in salt belt areas. What is the difference and how do you know it is Chinese steel - all steel rusts unless it has paint or protection from the elements. My springs are not weak and it has the best red paint I have ever had on a vehicle plus tailgate locks were not such a big deal on 1st and 2nd gens. What is the big deal with "thick" paint - when a stone hits it a big thick chunk of paint comes out and harder to touch up. For less than $100 you can get an aftermarket lock but mine is incorporated in the hard cover so that would be a waste for me. Instead of whining, you should have done your homework or at least have a basic understanding of automotive technology before making a major purchase and complaining about it later

If you hate it so much. Sell it and buy something else.

That way you won't have to join a forum and spend your 4th post doing nothing but complaining.

    Good luck
